GC9EF1 Don’t look at your hands was archived this morning. It got to be a hassle sorting out Virtual Finders from those who actually visited the cache.
07/27/2009 at 1:22 pm #1911421That’s the second milwaukee virtual to be archived that I know of. It’s unfortunate.
07/27/2009 at 1:32 pm #1911422Not having visited this one or even known what the question was, could any question that could be answered by looking online or somewhere else be changed to one that requires getting information from the actual spot? And are photos of the finders at the site legit for virtuals as they are in earthcaches?
07/27/2009 at 1:34 pm #1911423It’s unfortunate that you modified the cache description before archiving. I would have liked to have read the original description!
07/27/2009 at 6:08 pm #1911424Bummer dude…This was an interesting little virt, in a place where a physical cache would be quite difficult. Was it all German cheaters, or the cheaters from everywhere now?

07/27/2009 at 6:38 pm #1911425I’m sorry for your loss, and ultimately, all of our loss. Too bad it had to be ruined by people who just want a quick and cheap smiley.
07/27/2009 at 8:30 pm #1911426And what’s wrong with a quick and cheap smiley? 😆
07/27/2009 at 8:39 pm #1911427Same reason that one gets a quick and cheap FTP on this thread. 😛
07/28/2009 at 1:11 am #1911428It is a real shame that owners of virtuals who get tired of them don’t put them up for adoption to another cacher who is willing to do the necessary work instead of archiving them and having them gone forever.
Any other people out there who get tired of their virtuals please drop me a message. I am more then willing to take them over then let them be archived and lost for ever.
07/28/2009 at 1:37 am #1911429I have a feeling that virtuals will go the way of locationless caches. Eventually, GS will discontinue them all together as they did with the locationless caches.
I’m not a virtual kind of cacher anyways. That’s why I only have 2 virtuals and one earthcache to my credit. If there’s one in the area that I’m hunting in, then I’ll get it to get the smiley, but I’m not going out of my way for a virtual or earthcache.
I prefer searching for the physical container, but that’s just me.
07/28/2009 at 2:36 am #1911430We’ve had armchair loggers from Germany, the Netherlands and Mexico on some of our virtuals we adopted from Lil’ Otter. We’ve emailed those folks and told them a physical visit is required, then deleted the logs.
Not a squwack. They must be used to it. I don’t get it, but I guess different strokes. Sorry it got to be such a hassle, that’s one we hadn’t visited yet.

You could ask that it be unarchived and put up for adoption, but that’s a hard row to hoe with the reviewers as they are inclined to let caches that fall under the grandfather clause go the way of the dodo and be lost forever, no matter how cool, special or educational the virtual might have been.
I agree with you here. Put them up for adoption and let someone else manage the headaches for a while.
