We would highly recommend this train ride. There is a cache there too.
Here is a quick video about it.Linda and I “honeymooned” there a few years ago. Visiting the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island at the same time makes for a great getaway! 😀

We took that train ride and found the cache in 2005. But due to another train derailment, we left 1.5 hours late. We then had an additional wait on the tracks after we got going. All in all we had exactly 15-20 minutes at the Canyon before we had to board and head back. Enough time for the bathroom, oh, there’s the cache in it’s hiding spot, and a quick picture or two. I would love to go back someday and have more time to enjoy it.
According to the letterbox directions you can drive there too. Not sure if I would trust those roads.
