I have seen many caches with a cut down spiral notebook for a log. How do you cut the spiral notebook to the necessary size?
I use a table saw to cut down the mini memo pad you cant get at wally world.
A table saw? REALLY? 😮
I just use a scissors to cut the pad to fit the container. It takes 2 or 3 cuts depending on the thickness of the pad, but I do still have all my fingers. A TABLE SAW????
scissors.

I’ve seen these as well but haven’t attempted it yet. My assumption was a band saw or table saw, so at least I have some company. For the smaller logs I’ve actually been opting for photocopy and then cutting them on the paper cutter. Works great and photocopies are cheaper. The other option I found is mini journal books at a local dollar store. At 3 / $1 why bother with cutting anything down.

Yup. put 2 on top of each other with a scrap piece of wood on top and another piece behind to push it through. Nice clean cut. Paper is wood fiber, right?
Scissors. A tough pair even cuts through the wire spiral.
I’ve used my scroll saw once, scissors do work but I’ve not had a good clean cut. But I’ve gotten away from doing that for smaller logs, I use the whole book if it fits or a micro log where I use a spreadsheet and paper cutter then roll/baggie them.
Razor knife, straight edge and wire cutters.
