Seriously how many people are involved in the creation of this series?
How many caches are there?
…and could someone involved in the project please create a Bookmark of the series….?

I happened to be at my computer around midnight when these were all released….my instant messenger just kept sounding….there are over thirty listings from at least 4 different geocachers…
10/15/2009 at 12:40 pm #1915216I think there are something like 110 all total from about 8-10 cachers. I was asked to be part of it, but I’m more into interesting and unique cache hides right now. I don’t think there will be that many who will ever finish the complete series. I would much rather spend my time right now on a good fall hike. However, I will do the part of the series hidden locally near me by the goldiediggers. I’m about to head out now to find the 3 in Sussex.

thewickey7 posted a note for BATTLESHIP: VICTORY AT SEA! (Final) (Unknown Cache) at 10/15/2009

Now that this series has been published, I wanted to write a quick note so fellow cachers would know the effort that went into it. This series was the collaborative effort of 9 different geocaching teams: AuntieNae, sr18, GoldieDiggers, Pawn of Chaos, GR8 Eyes, Greendale SRT, Doctor Dolittle, Ranger Rob, and thewickey7. I first pitch the idea to sr18 on our way home from GeoWoodstock back in May. He loved the idea and immedialtely started recruiting other members. I will not say that the whole process was not painful and frustrating at times but well worth it. Thanks also goes to reviewer WisKid for all his patience and guidance. We hope you enjoy the finished product. Cache On!And here is the bookmark to track the series:
Battleship, the cache series, was launched on 15 October 2009 and consists of 106 caches. Of those, 100 are traditional and 6 are unknowns. Partial coordinates for the unknowns are found in some of the traditionals… but which ones? Happy hunting.

10/15/2009 at 3:29 pm #19152182 down, 104 to go.
10/15/2009 at 3:39 pm #1915219I think that the bookmark list is incomplete. There are a few of the mystery caches not on including the final. Unless the names have been changed.
Yep there all there. diffrent names I guess.
10/15/2009 at 6:50 pm #1915220I just got all the emails about the new series. I tried to find the smiley’s on google maps. Can’t wait to get started.
10/15/2009 at 9:37 pm #1915221I already have 3 DNF’s on this series. I must be blind or something.
10/15/2009 at 10:50 pm #1915222please post your DNF’s .. we do have 2 of the cache hiders out of town .. the DNF’s give us the heads up there is a problem so it can be replaced.
10/16/2009 at 1:12 am #1915223IMHO, It might be a good idea to post the hours of any parks and/or parkways in which the caches are located. From what I can tell, at least one cacher decided to break any number of laws last night in order to rack up a huge FTF count. I’d like to think common sense would prevail, but some cachers are willing to do anything for a FTF (including entering city parks LONG after closing) and that is not good for the sport.
10/16/2009 at 10:54 am #1915224Whenever a geocacher undertakes a project in the interest of numbers, there will be a temptation to compromise ethics or art of the sport. An earlier project [by a board member] resulted in a number of caches being placed on DNR managed lands without obtaining permission. Some series have resulted in placements that were not such great locations, some on private property without permission, etc. I hope that the nine cachers involved have’nt lost sight of these factors.
10/16/2009 at 2:02 pm #1915225So, has anyone completed all 106 caches yet? This series is already on its second day now. 😉
10/16/2009 at 2:14 pm #1915226last I saw the caches closest to me still had no find logs….and I’m too lazy to go find them at the moment…I’d have to drive nearly 4 miles to search for them!
Ya I just checked…there are 5 of them within 10 miles of me and none of them have an online log yet.

Place your bets, folks. Who will it be?
