      As of 10/22, 200 cache rescue missions have been completed by WGA members. #200 was done by rcflyer2242. Congrats rcflyer2242. 8)

        We’ve done a few around here. There’s one I’d like to do, but it’s in the middle of the Mississippi, I don’t know that area for paddling and don’t want to get trampled by a barge.

        It sounds like it was a cool cache, and there isn’t anything left of it and hasn’t been for a long time. Too bad.

          That one actually looks like it’s still there, the owner just never reenabled it so it got archived. I would love to get that one as well…it just sits there staring at me on the rescue list time after time. It’s just too far away to justify the trip.

          In the context of the LCG, maybe we should make cache rescues that have been on the list for more than a year worth double points just like regular lonelies.

            I’ve looked at that cache a few times and pondered how to exactly get there. Seems that cache rescues don’t come often as the lonely cache game, is there a guide on how they choose which ones are checked up on?

              As I understand it, if a cache has been archived by reviewers and the owner is non-responsive, it eventually goes on the list. Also, cache rescue can be used by the cache owner to ask that it be removed, or that maintenance or cache checkup be done if for some reason they can’t do so themselves.

              As to the Ile de Diable….in one log, the owner mentions taking the kayak out to check on it. If I had better maps to show me where and how, I’d be game to do that, but unless it’s like Goose Island around here, I’d be hesitant to ‘yak myself out in the middle of the Mississippi. The one photo for that cache shows a powerboat.

                Yeah, I saw the kayak reference, I do have access to a canoe, but my thought was a hike out when the ice was thick (and safe enough in my opinion). Only problem with the winter hunt is it may be located in such a way that makes it hard to find in the winter.
                I’d hate to rent a boat for just a single possibly gone cache, so this one will just stay a thought in my mind for awhile.
