Besides the Reforestation Camp and the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve (both in Suamico), are there any other hiking trails or parks with a good number of caches that I can walk to from cache to cache in northeast WI?
I would prefer trails with a loop so that I’m not still too far from my car when I find the last cache in the park, but I will walk on non-loop trails if the walk back is not too long.
Same goes for biking trails. Thought I heard about a bike trail in central WI that has like 30 caches on it. Can anyone confirm this?
I’m hoping to hit a trail or two this fall before snow arrives. I’m already planning on finishing BarkHausen on Saturday. Still have to find 7 caches out of the 12 they have out there.
Thanks 🙂

11/16/2009 at 2:35 am #1916999Try Harrington State Park. Located in Ozaukee county East of Belgium along Lake Michigan. Great park and they welcome geocachers. There is 10 caches located in the park.
11/16/2009 at 2:49 am #1917000Rib Mountain in wausau has a nice loop, just did it yesterday, felt a little sleepy, dopey, sneezy, bashful, needed a doc, extremely grumpy but happy when I finally made it to the dwarfs cabin..
You can also pick up a few others along the way, you can pick up 11 plus an earthcache if you play it right.
11/16/2009 at 3:49 am #1917001I believe your talking about
Code:GC1V8MRaround Stevens Point.
11/16/2009 at 5:17 am #1917002Not in the area you want, but the Bugline Trail in Waukesha County has about 25 caches along it now not including Doctor Dolittle’s new one cache for each state which will bring the total up to 75 in a 14 mile stretch. I expect this to become a real popular destination soon.
11/16/2009 at 5:21 am #1917003here is the bookmark list for the Green Circle Trail In Plover/Whiting/St. Point

Microwave is but a single 21-stage multi along the trail.
the GCT itself is 30.6 miles in length. Great bicycle ride!Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
11/17/2009 at 6:07 pm #1917004We were caching by Reedsburg (we think) and there was a ton of caches on the state 400 bike trail. It’s all over and one small town we went through there were bikes everywhere. There was even a place where you could rent bikes! We vowed we would go back for a bike ride…someday. 🙂

I’d have to ditto these … but then again I’m biased because I hid them.
Not sure if you consider this “NorthEast” thou, more “CentralEast” … zip for the series is 53004, if it helps you decide. Otherwise they fit the bill, regarding park once and hike the series. It includes a mystery cache that most people fine to be “very different”.Here’s a bookmark for them all: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=485851ad-e3c2-498a-873a-8ca461a02dc3
11/17/2009 at 8:19 pm #1917006Here’s a link to the State Trails listing on the DNR site. They are not loops, but I’m sure they are chock full of caches:

You could also try Gov. Thompson State Park near Crivitz. Here’s a cache in the area:

Trails11/17/2009 at 9:01 pm #1917007Thanks for all the responses. I’ve been to Gov Thompson and still have a few caches left to get yet at that park.
I’ll look at the others that you guys posted.
Keep them coming and thanks 🙂

I see that whole series just got disabled for placement issues.
04/08/2010 at 8:04 pm #1917009Figured I’d give this a bump. Any trails with new caches on them?
I went on a trail with 6 caches today and had fun doing so despite the snow.
I’m loving caching on trails with multiple caches on it.
04/08/2010 at 8:33 pm #1917010I shamelessly promote the Zeroes to Heroes series at the Purdy Preserve in Appleton. Only one cache is mine; I have a couple more to do, but they all have been a good hike in my opinion. Several cachers have done the whole series in one day. It takes quite a bit out of me to hike there, so I limit myself. The trails are loops with several access points. Read the cache pages for restrictions on the trails.
The other trails I have hiked and cached on are more linear. There are a lot of them in the Fox Valley.
04/08/2010 at 10:37 pm #1917011Linear are fine with me so as long as the walk back is not too far. I did a series of 6 caches over a 3/4 mile walk today but it meant I had to walk back the 3/4 miles – lol. Let me know when you put out the new ones, Amita, and I’ll check them out.
Thanks 🙂
