MemberOk well I have been out of the caching world for a bit but I am having problems. I have a lowrance I-finder H2Oc and for some reason it will not lock in on satilites. When I first got it it worked fine (I bought it used) one of the first things I did was delete all the user way points that were on the system. I then loaded up some caches from Gsak and I thought everything was fine. Then life set in and i couldnt go caching for a long time. But now I have some free time so I decided to go out and do some caching today. I put in a fresh pair of batteries loaded up a new list of caches and went outside, problem is it wont lock on to any satilites I show I have them but it wont lock on to my position. the last time I looked I had 7 satilites showing but it would not show my current position. I let it sit for 45 mins and still no lock but there is satilites showing but no lock. I ended up using the all of the new batteries trying to get a lock but nothing. At first I thought it was due to cloud cover but I turned on my Garmin 60 and poof locked on with no problem. If anyone can help me that would be great I like to use this more but not if it doesnt lock on to satilites.

MemberNot that familiar with lowrance, but I’ll see if I can be of any help. If it were a Garmin I would tell you to do a reset of the unit, which involves holding the proper set of buttons at startup. If that didn’t work I would tell you to get the most current firmware update for your unit.
You can find the unit software(firmware) for your unit here.
http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Outdoors/iFINDER-H2O-C/Downloads/The only lowrance I updated before required you have an SD card & card reader on PC. Then once you had the update on the card & installed in the card back in the gps unit you had to navigate to the update in one of the menus to start the update.
Read on here that if you have WAAS turned on can cause some signal issues. might be worth a try turning that off.

MemberNot familiar with that Lowrance product, but when I have questions/problems with my XOG I go to this forum:
http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=163There seems to be some pretty decent people there that can help out usually.

ParticipantI have one similar to yours…don’t know if it’s the same model but it’s an oldie and a goodie.
Try resetting your options by pressing the menu key twice, arrowing down this menu to “system setup”, press “enter”, arrow down to “Reset options”. press “enter”, arrow left to “yes”, and press “enter”.
I’ve never had the problem you’re having, but this will reset your Lowrance…hopefully it will solve the issue. Good luck 😀Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)

MemberBefore you reset your options (sorry Bartrod) which might lose settings you have established, try this:
menu->menu->GPS setup.
Make sure “require WAAS” is not checked.
Make sure “use indoors” is not checked.
Select “initialize” GPS and follow the instructions.
If that doesn’t work after a period of time, reboot the device, go through the steps above, except choose “GPS Auto Search” in the menu.
We had this problem on rare occasions. Usally one or both of the steps above would jumpstart it. If not… 😡

MemberThanks for the help everyone. I checked all the things everyone had said to check and nothing was check such as reguire waas or the use indoors button. So I did a soft reboot put fresh batteries in it and went outside let the unit sit for about 1-3 ins and locked on including waas. I did loose all the way I had it set up but it locked on. I couldnt believe it so I turned it off and tried it again and it locke don with in a min and satyed that way the whole time I went driving around and never lost position. Thanks everyone again. Your were a big help. now to figure out how to make it so the screen is easier to see without having the backlight on LOL. I know it is impossible to do i will get used to it.
Thanks again,
Kevin

MemberFor the light issue…try turning on the night view setting…background is black, and the writing and things are lighter colored. I use my H20C as a primary unit and absolutely love it.
