What are y’all doing on New Year’s Eve next week?

I might go to our local bowling alley to bowl in a New Year’s Eve fun tournament at 9m , then stay there to watch the New Year come in. I’m not a drinker, so I’ll probably drive some drunk home – lol.

How about the rest of you?

My wife invites people over every year….I don’t drink (well maybe one or two drinks every few months). I actually dislike the holiday; so much stupid crap goes on when folks drink too much.

Celebrating New Years Eve is against my religion and I’m offended that you would post such an insensitive poll.

To us New Years Eve is just another day on the calendar. We usually have steaks on the grill, a bottle of wine. Watch some movies and turn in early.
It just can’t get any better than that.

    I answered “other”

I have to work 1pm-9pm New Year’s Eve and back at 6am New Year’s Day. Would still be staying home on the Eve, but since I work the Day, I am going to miss the New Year’s Blackbelt Workout that we have at our TKD school. Pretty bummed about that. 🙁

(wondering how many legal alcohols blood draws we will have this year….. 😡

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

We’ll just be keeping it low-key: visiting some family, hanging out at their house, playing with all the dogs, and maybe not even staying up til midnight.

We usually stay home and play board games with the kids to ring in the New Year. Now the oldest has her own place and the youngest is almost 18 so not sure what we’ll do. We will pry sit home and watch movies. Too many crazies out there.

I wanted to vote for two things. While I am officially going be at a bar not getting drunk, the reason fit the other category. I will be running a karaoke show and watch (and unfortunately listen to) drunk people make fools of themselves because the government says they legally can longer than normally allowed. At least I’ll be making money instead of spending it.

Party like it’s 1999, ten years later.

I posted “Other” because hopefully 1/1/10 will be a great day for caching. As of 1/2 of the CodeRdz team there is a lot to get ready.

This sounds awesome, what a great idea.

Add another to the “doesn’t need to involve alcohol to celebrate” group, which I’m glad to see is apparently the majority of respondents here.

We do have younger members on this site and they do watch what we do. Trust me on this. 🙁

My guess is a long night of Mexican Train with our sons and their girlfriends and nothing stronger than Mountain Dew.

I agree – We’ll have the dominoes out, a ton of munchies, and maybe one or two beers. Other than that it’s pretty uneventful for us other than the grand gathering at 12:00 (EST) to watch the ball drop.

          Living dangerously there, T&B? 😉

          Previous New Year’s Eves:

Used to play pinochle and eat pizza with another couple until their kids got too old. Then we met with a group of friends and played Trivial Pursuit and other board games like that until everyone was having too much trouble staying up until midnight. Then just the two of us would rent a couple of movies and have popcorn until we started falling asleep during the movies. Then it’s been, “Hey, it’s just another night.”

Oh, I forgot that at the start of 2000 and 2001 we had fires, outdoor candles, and sparklers at midnight for the new century, whichever year that officially was, which is why we did both. One of us ventured outside more than the other on those occasions. 🙄

This year New Year’s Eve will be spent practicing putting a 1 in the third spot of the year on dates.

Cleaning the bunny and hedgehog cages are tops on the list right now. I might even venture to the basement and do a few loads of laundry. Exciting, isn’t it?
