Events are an important part of what the WGA does, and Board members are generally expected to help work towards making the events successful. Last year, we held 4 events:

    May 2 WGA Wausau CITO
May 15 WGA Geo-Campout (High Cliff)
Aug 16 Pancakes and PJs in West Bend
Sep 19 WGA Geo-Picnic (Lake Wissota)

First question: How many of those 4 events did you attend?

Second question: At any one of those events, were you able to volunteer to make the event a success? Feel to elaborate and describe your efforts to make WGA events a success last year.

Third question: Do you plan on being able to attend most of the WGA events next year, and do you plan to be able to work at those events to make them a success?

Thank you answering this important question.

First question: How many of those 4 events did you attend?

I attended the Camp-out at High Cliff and the Pancake Breakfast at the Cache Bash in West Bend. Unfortunately I had prior commitments for the other 2 events mentioned.

While I did not attend the Wausua CITO event, I did organize the 3rd annual Appleton CITO event (with seldom|seen) which did not have WGA assistance. This was my second year managing the event. Before I got involved in this, I believed this was officially sanctioned by the WGA because WGA members were soliciting to hold regional CITO events. Perhaps I was mistaken but regardless we’ve had a very successful CITO in Appleton the last 3 years.

Second question: At any one of those events, were you able to volunteer to make the event a success? Feel to elaborate and describe your efforts to make WGA events a success last year.

I was on the Camp-out committee for the camp-out. I assisted with hiding temp caches and many permanent caches around the Sherwood area including a permanent KFC (kid friendly cache) within High Cliff State Park. I assisted with getting High Cliff DNR land management permission for the permanent placements in a park that had not seen new permanent caches in awhile. I also participated in many of the committee internal discussions and decisions.

I volunteered at the Cache Bash during the official WGA geocaching class put on by Jeremy. I helped with the hands-on portion and helped a few families find some geocaches in the park and gave tips and pointers. I would like to do this again at future events.

Third question: Do you plan on being able to attend most of the WGA events next year, and do you plan to be able to work at those events to make them a success?

I understood this responsibility when I accepted the nomination. As I mentioned in my introduction, this is what makes being on the BOD an exciting proposition for me.

I do think that the regional events (like the Wausau CITO which I understood to be a regional WGA event) should be more “optional” for board members living outside the regional area of the event but it is important to have BOD presence at these events so if there is no other local/regional board member present or assisting I can step up.

I am registered for the Winter event, and have my camp site reserved for the camp-out and my presence at this year’s cache bash is also reserved already. Looking forward to attending the WGA picnic event for the first time this year.

How many of those 4 events did you attend?[/b]

We have not yet attended an event sponsored by the WGA yet. Mainly because of my views on temporary caches.

At any one of those events, were you able to volunteer to make the event a success? Feel to elaborate and describe your efforts to make WGA events a success last year.

We have not yet attended a WGA event, so did not volunteer. We did both volunteer at MWGB for the last 3 years and at 2 other Michigan Events

Do you plan on being able to attend most of the WGA events next year, and do you plan to be able to work at those events to make them a success?

We plan on attending all the events that we can. And plan on volunteering where ever needed to make the events a success, (as long as it does not mean that I have to hide temporary caches)

    1. We attended all but the CiTO event in Wausau.
    2. My wife, daughter, and I helped out at the pancake breakfast at the camp out, as well as the cache bash.
    3. I’ve already submitted vacation slips for all the events, so yes we plan on attending most if not all the events this year. I’ve also signed on to be on the camp out committee, so I will be helping with the camp out and I’m sure I will be helping out with the other events as well.

sadly, i was unable to attend any of the 4 events this past calendar year due to my unpredictable officiating schedule. however, now that i am “in the loop,” it’s much more under my control, and attending the WGA events shouldn’t be an issue.

By taking over the LCG Event when no one else was willing, I think it shows my willingness to participate in events and help make them a success. Besides the time relating to the organizational aspects, I’m donating multiple items for the raffle.

I did attend the WGA Campout (High Cliff) and the Pancakes and PJs in West Bend events in 2009.

I served as the non-board co-chair for the Campout committee.
Along with the other committee members there was alot to do to prepare prior to and during the event. I was able to assist in many areas to help make the campout a success. I helped distribute the T-Shirts and sold the WGA geocoins on Saturday. I had contacted Bandits to see if they would be available to take the group picture, which turned out great! I donated some items for the general door prize drawings, and cooked up sausages and flapjacks on Sunday morning for all those hungry cachers.

I am looking forward to all the 2010 WGA sponsored events. If elected to the BOD, it will be my pleasure to work at these events to make them successful. Hope to see you there!

As a Board member, This past year, I attended all but the Regional CITO Event in Wausau.

I was Chairperson for the WGA Campout at High Cliff State Park. I helped to Hide Temporary caches, worked with campers upon arrival at the Event, helped to clean up the shelter throughout the weekend, and helped with the Pancake breakfast on sunday, as well as cleaning up after the event on Sunday.

I helped out at the WGA Picnic at Lake Wissota State Park. I helped where,k and when needed.

I also helped out the entire weekend at the West Bend Cache Bash. This included, helping with Coordinate Downloads, cleaning up, Helping out at the Pancake Breakfast, as well as cleanup afterwards.

I was unable to attend the Regional CITO Event in Wausau.

If elected, I will again, be making all the WGA Events, and the WGA Sponsored Regional events that I am able to.
