I am planning a trip to the North West part of the state to hopefully pick up the last six counties that I need to finish off the state. When checking the attributes for winter friendly. I noticed that very many in that area have NO attributes at all. When caching this time of the year (winter) it would be very helpful to see them. Especially the snow flake or the snow flake with the red bar thru it.
So I urge all cache owners to use them when placing new caches.

01/22/2010 at 2:59 pm #1920697We noticed 2 weeks ago when we were at the GNG Event up north the lack of attributes on cache pages. You’ll have to go south to find our caches (over 100 active) and we have had hundreds of logged finds on them since the first snow fell. Our criteria for the snowflake icon is:
snowflake present – if you can’t find it your not a winter cacher
no snowflake – there’s still a good chance you’ll find it.
snowflake crossed out – if you find it you’re a better winter cacher than me01/22/2010 at 4:32 pm #1920698Unfortunately, the snowflake icon does not mean winter friendly, but availabe in winter. We finally gave up sorting on that icon and just hunted them all. After caching with a few others and seeing how they do it, adding a walking stick, hammer or ice axe to your caching gear lets you get to where a cache is hidden in short order.
