Hi, I was just curious if anyone had any idea where I could get ammo cans around the Madison area. Gander Mountain carries them, but they’re brand new and are $20 each. I know there’s a thread about this in the Central Wisconsin area of the forum, but that’s a couple of years old. Thanks.
02/10/2010 at 12:01 pm #1921901I got my last 4 at the TOken Creek Gander, and they were about $8 each. Looks like they went up. Usually Delaney’s between Baraboo and Sauk carries them also.
02/10/2010 at 2:03 pm #1921902Try fleet farm, last I bought from there it was 8 bucks for the smaller can. Army surplus store maybe? If you get to wausau ( shameless plug: come up for the event on the 21st! ) I have several I’d sell you for 8 bucks each.

If you’re in the Madison area, and you’ve looked for an Army/ Navy Surplus store, you’ll come out very, very, disappointed. Ask me how I know.
Wisconsin doesn’t have much for A/N Surplus stores.
There is a surplus store in the Eau Claire area that I know is decent, but I dont know how much they ask for ammo cans, if they even have them.

The Eau Claire Army Navy store has em, but about 7 bucks a piece. I have been told there is a new surplas store in Chippewa that has em for 3 bucks, but I havent checked it out yet.

One in Fond Du Lac as well.
02/10/2010 at 6:01 pm #1921906And you can log a smiley at the Fond du Lac A/N Store, as well! They have the best ammo cans but are more in the $12 to $18 range, but NO RUST!
Check out “Paint Your Wagon” for coordinates. (GC is not working for us right now, or I would post the #).
02/10/2010 at 7:57 pm #1921907janesville army surplus store has them and they run about 10 bucks”last i saw there was a pallet them.
02/10/2010 at 8:02 pm #1921908What I would like to know is where are all the ammo cans going? They’re not being hidden in the woods under a pile of sticks the way they were intended…

They are going to replace caches that have been muggled, I think. 😥
On the Left Side of the Road...02/10/2010 at 9:53 pm #1921910Farm and Fleet in Menomonee falls carries them used as does the Army Navy surplus store in Downtown Milwaukee. $7-$15 is the usual depending on the size.
02/11/2010 at 6:14 am #1921911Thanks for the replies everyone. Tomorrow, I’m off to hunt for cans.

HUMMMMM? I think other hand-loaders like myself are scarfing them up. Thanks to “the administration” prices are sky rocketing and us handloaders need a place to stockpile our goods. 😀
02/11/2010 at 5:09 pm #1921913Storing ammo in ammo cans? I guess that might work…

Not to sidetrack this tread, and just stating facts. The “administation ” hasn’t done anything yet. Ammo companies are running 24/7, yet there is no or very limited supplies on store shelves. WHY???? 😯
