Newbie question. My daughter (also a newbie Geocacher) wants to pick up her first travel bug on a found cache with the directions to send it south. She wants to give it to me, as I’m going to southern WI on a trip next week, and plan on doing some Geocaching while there. I could drop it off in one of the caches down there.
My question is… Can she log it in, and just give it to me and then I log it, and then take it south? Or does she have to drop it in a NEW cache, have me find it, and then I log it?
What if it’s a micro/mini and the bug doesn’t fit. We were thinking of going together to a cache location that neither of us have found (micro), and doing turns on finding it, and then swapping the travel bug even though it’s micro.
What is the correct protocol on this transaction/transfer.
Thanks
There is a option when you put in the tracking number for “Picked up from somewhere else” or something similar. You can use that to transfer to your inventory when she gives it to you.
if she is the current holder, you can “Grabbed from _______”

You can do a “drop and retrieval” of a TB or coin at any cache, even if you don’t physically place it in a container. That will record that it has visited a certain cache, and it will also get the miles involved.
Thank you for the info. That answers my question.
