I was wondering if anyone could help me. I found a cache this past weekend in Long Lake State Park on top of Dundee mountain. It was called “Out of this world”. It seemed to be older but the no info that came up on my Blackberry for it. I also checked geocaching.com and came up with nothing. Well I signed the log put the cache back kind of where I found it just moved it over toward a tree and went on with my day. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this cache. I’d like to log it in my finds. Also I’d like the owner to know that it’s still out there.

    Thanks,

    Steve

It’s possible you found an archived cache in which the container was never recovered.

Another possibility is that it is a Terracache or Navicache. Geocaching website is not the only website that does geocaches.

Did you happen to notice who the last one to log it was, and how long ago it was? Dundee Mtn is partially in a SNA, so if there was a cache there, it would have been archived a few years ago when the DNR decided that caches would not be allowed in SNAs.

Did you just happen across it, or find coords for it somewhere? That could be a clue as well.

Doing a little ‘Googling’, it looks like UWSheboygan had a few June 2009 courses in Geocaching, and placed a few caches in that area. Have no idea of details or if anything was left there. Here’s a link to some pictures: http://www.sheboygan.uwc.edu/uwsheboygan/webPages/kbyrand/Geo_Club_Geocaching.htm

      Maybe something looks familiar?

There are three caches on Dundee Mountain in Long Lake State Park. GCPWA3 Hilltop hike is a ammo can on the very top. I also believe that an earthcache is also listed. Another one is on the way down. Those are the only ones listed on Geocaching.com that I am aware of.

      Maybe a letterbox?

I don’t show anything like this as an archived or “never published” cache. Probably someone put it out and then changed their mind.

I wish I could remember the log data. I think it was awhile since it was logged. It wasn’t a letterbox. It was a Red plastic coffee can. It had a log book and some swag. The strange thing about it was that it was just sitting out in the open. I will be going back to the area soon. I have to get the Earthcaches. I’ll look for it again and maybe grab some more info. I just thought it was odd.
