Those of you who have multiple FTF’s, what is the ratio of your FTF’s to your total finds?

I have 619 total finds as of this post and just 11 of them are FTF’s, giving me one FTF in about 56 finds.

I’m not one to drop what I’m doing to get an FTF, hence the low number. Just two of my FTF’s, I rushed out to get after I got the notification. The rest just fell into my lap for one reason or another.

I’m sure the FTF hounds here probably got a better ratio than I do. Do I hear 1 in 10 finds?

Nope, if I did my math right at this hour its 21.183 to 1. Unfortunately my choice of housing location has put me out of the running for most all ftf’s in town.

I have 20 FTFs out of 326 total. Thats one FTF out of every 16.3 caches. I’m fortunate to live in an area where FTF competition isn’t all that stiff. (Unlike Wausau)

BigJim60 and 2nd Time Around are my only competition.
BigJim is at the greatest advantage, though. He is in a centralized location between Marshfield, Rapids and Point, so that obviously works out to his advantage for the Marshfield caches.

out of our 4271 finds we have 101 FTF’s so that would figure to roughly 1 in every 42.28 caches. Farthest one was at the tip of the Keweenaw in the UP about 200 miles from home, but we didn’t race to that one, it was out for 5 days before we got it.

29 FTF on 1580 finds, which is 1:54. I didn’t start chasing till this year and I hope my ratio will improve 🙂

I have roughly 40 ftf’s and 1140 finds total and 91 (non-adopted out) caches hidden.

When I first started I was way more into FTF’s. Now I don’t even get notified of new traditional anymore. I still have a notification for new puzzles near me just to see what types of puzzles are being published. I’ve been watching the map fill up around me again with new caches but have never felt the urge to go find them in the middle of the night like I did when I started. I guess there’s always more important things to do nowadays..

    Some interesting FTF’s of mine:

I got one FTF on a puzzle cache (GC13MZC) published June 15th 2007 and I was FTF September 5th.

Another memorable one was a co-ftf on a puzzle cache race (GC15JH6) Had to be the first to find 20 puzzle caches to log this one. Ended up finishing at the exact same time as Sagasu for the co-ftf. It took me 9 days and 3 of my puzzle finds were disqualified requiring me to inf 23 puzzle caches and 295 miles traveled to get the ftf.

On GC1B4ZH my whole family spent a combined 13 hours to get the puzzle solve and then I had to bring Lil Cheeto along to help make the find at one of the most interesting ground zero’s we’ve encountered to date.

And I can’t forget my 1,000th find which was a puzzle FTF celebrated with Lil Cheeto at my tribute cache GC1XPME where zoesbrother and I first attempted to find it in all the wrong places about a half mile away from where it really was.

I’ve chased a lot of ftf’s in the past (both puzzle and traditional) and now I just enjoy reading all the newer cacher’s ftf logs.

145 out of 1980. That’s about 1 in 13. Up until a year ago it was better than 10%.

    64 of 543 making it 1 in every 8.5.

Despite Helidood’s comment about my advantage on Marshfield caches, I’m really at a disadvantage for caches in the Rapids, Point, or Wausau areas. I’m about 25 minutes from Rapids, 30 min from Point and 40 min from Wausau. I didn’t get my first FTF until my 90th cache, which gave me a ratio of 1:89. I had 3 FTF’s in two days last week to bring my total to 14 FTFs in 366 caches, or 1:26. Should be picking up now that I have nothing to do with my days until September 😆

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I don’t keep track of first to finds nor do I really try for them. I like to let someone else prove the coordinates are good before I go out. I would guess that I probably have about 40 ftf’s and 2900 finds. I do think though that my second and third to finds probably number greater than 500. I find most of the new caches in my area in the first few days after they are published.

My ratio is 1 in every 151.25. My thought is the cache will still be there after 6:00 am, so why hurry.

      #1929846

      18 FTF’s out of 2576 finds for a ratio of about 1:143.

      #1929847

      1:78.4 here.
