Every time, doesn’t matter the context. I lose it every time.
06/01/2010 at 12:17 am #1929951We went to the Memorial Day Parade in Sussex today with our son who is a 20+ year retired National Guard LTC and Iraq War Vet. He had a cap on today that said he was an Iraq War vet and several people stopped, shook his hand and thanked him for his service. That was very moving.

06/01/2010 at 3:19 pm #1929954I visited my Nephew at the cemetery yesterday. It was the first time I think I’ve ever been to a cemetery on Memorial Day. I spent about a half hour with him, and was honored by how many veterans, and family members of veterans stopped by his grave, just in the time I was there. Their words of encouragement, and thankfulness of his sacrifice brought me to tears, and I’m not embarrassed to say it. I’m still amazed that all these people knew who was buried there, and that they took the time to pay they’re respects to someone they never knew.
