We’ve been sitting and waiting,…..and waiting….and waiting for a break in this never ending wetness. It’s really getting old. Yes, I know we can cache in the rain, but we both wear and need our glasses and that gets old, too. Tomorrow was looking good earlier in the week, but not now. Doesn’t seem to matter which direction we look, either.
Is anyone else getting sick of it? It’s worse than winter. Caching in the snow is no big deal, as long as it’s not a blizzard (though we’ve found ourselves out in that, and it’s kind of fun).
On the plus side, we’re getting lots of stuff done at home and I’ve solved a few more puzzles and finished a knitting project.
07/07/2010 at 3:55 pm #1932761I have a river in my basement which is very annoying, and I can’t get to a couple caches I own that I need to move because the water crossing to get to them is to dangerous right now because of how fast the water is going, so yes, I am sick of this also.
07/07/2010 at 4:05 pm #1932762We’ve done that basement thing twice, it is so not fun. It seems like we’ve finally got that problem licked with better drainpipes and gutters. Actually, now that I think of it, three times. We got hit with the 1994 flooding, too.
I probably know at least one of those caches you mention. It was kind of frightening to see the Kickapoo right at the concrete bed. Only thing keeping it dry was the huge pile up of debris that slammed against the railings there.
Things outside are starting to get that funky smell, too. Rain, rain go away!
07/07/2010 at 4:05 pm #1932763This rhyme is something my mother used to recite, and it stuck with her long after her mind was forgetting more important things:
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We’ll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!07/07/2010 at 4:07 pm #1932764Pat, Cute one, and it’s true, nothing we can do about the weather….except complain! So I’m exercising that particular right at the moment. I’m not typically a whiner, but sometimes I just feel entitled. This is one such time! 🙄
07/07/2010 at 4:11 pm #1932765Sounds like summer cabin fever!
Yes, this rain can go away when we take our camping trip. If not, you will hear some REAL whining!
And the next time we mow, we will also be baling what we cut.Is it possible to have SAD in the summer??????
07/07/2010 at 4:44 pm #1932766I’m not so concerned about the weather, but thinking of the great hatches of mosquitos that are starting.
07/07/2010 at 5:28 pm #1932767Oh, they’ve started here already. And the mayflies. The plows were out to deal with those, ugh!
07/07/2010 at 6:35 pm #1932768We went to the Como Zoo on Monday to avoid the rain and it followed us up there all day! Definetly putting a damper on any caching for us also, just don’t feel like going outside with everything so yucky.
I know of the ones Nate has to move.. patiently waiting.07/07/2010 at 7:43 pm #1932769It is funny that Sandland and western WI are complaining about the rain. Here in Milwaukee we would love some rain, this 90 degree heat with 75 dew points is getting a little brutal. I say bring on the rain.
07/07/2010 at 9:12 pm #1932770Hopefully it will come your way soon. It looks like we can maybe get out and mow now. We do have the steamy heat at the moment, but supposedly the next front will move that out, too.

I got the mowing done this afternoon and only got sprinkled on a little bit. I got a whole afternoon of caching in yesterday. I have the whole day tomorrow set aside for caching, but I’ll see what the weather looks like in the morning before I set out. If it’s bad I have a lot of computer work I can do.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
07/07/2010 at 9:26 pm #1932772We’ve decided to stick with our original plan tomorrow and head over to Waushara County and thereabouts. If the weather tanks, we’ll find a coffee shop or read our books in the car. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done that.
07/08/2010 at 1:22 am #1932773To quote my favorite ad from a local outdoor store: “There is no such thing as bad weather; there is only inadequate clothing.”
