Just a friendly reminder for the “CacheVenture-Fly-in/Cachin’ Int’l Meet ‘n’ Greet” (GC2ABVE) on July 29th in South Park in Oshkosh.

Our cohosts are from Illinois, with BakRdz and I being Trailmen.

Thursday’s Air Show features Warbird jets and starts at 3 PM. Last year, we watched a biplane, a WWII plane, and a modern day jet flying together, at the same air speed!
The nice thing about the air show is that you can see/hear the planes from several miles away.

In case your wondering, daily admission to the show is $37, unless your an EAA member…then it’s $25. (I’m not promoting it, just letting you know). There should be plenty of “birds” in the air if you arrive early at South Park. You may want to bring a blanket to lay on, for looking UP!

Bring some trackables to move or discover. Seems with the volume of cachers each year, a few go unaccounted for during the week. We are hoping that this will alleviate that problem!

Flyin’ or drivin’! See ya there!

Saw the Good Year blimp in Fondy this afternoon. It will head up to O-Town tomorrow. Plenty of planes whizzing around! Bring a blanket to lay on! πŸ˜€

Event schedule for EAA says there is an airshow scheduled from 3:30-5:30pm. will there be planes in the air after that? Just need to know when to arrive as the little boy wants to see some planes. (and we are not going to try to make the EAA grounds.)

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

Since GZ is a large city park, your best bet would be to come earlier than later. You may want to walk to Quarry Park, if trees are a problem.

    Clothing optional… 8)

There are always planes in the air, but the flight path varies from day to day. πŸ˜•

    Beware of traffic!

The yellow circled intersections are very busy around 4-6ish (at least.) The red arrows show which directions are blocked. You cannot cross 41 on 44/South Park Ave. They redirect you on the frontage road to 20th. 9th Ave is the next closest exit and it’s right near fast food alley, so around food time you pretty much don’t move.

21 will still be pretty bad, but traffic seems to flow a little better. If you are taking 41 into town or are coming from the West, I recommend this route:

Of course, you can always take Algoma Blvd/Hwy 45 (North of maps) or County Rd N/Hwy 26 (South of maps.) Both of those options will help avoid a lot of AirVenture traffic as well.

    So, to recap:
    Busy intersections
    -South Park Ave @ 41
    -9th Ave @ 41
    -20th Ave @ 41

    Closed roads
    -Hwy 41 on-ramps @ South Park Ave
    -South Park Ave overpass
    -Witzel Ave overpass
-Main St between Ceape Ave and Irving Ave

    Construction
-Witzel Ave @ Washburn and Koeller (either side of Hwy 41.)
    -Algoma Blvd
    -Jackson St

In other words, plan ahead for an alternate route, or be prepared to wait in traffic.

Thanks for the tips! Approaching South Park from the north or east is the best bet! So, Tami, ignore the Auto Router! πŸ˜‰

still not sure if we’ll make this one… and Glorkar’s map makes it even scarier to think about…

hubby lost a day of work with his little “tree” incident and he’s coming home in the thick of this so I’m not sure we’ll make it. It will be a last minute decision….

Had a lot of fun and got to meet a few of you for the first time. Even found a cacher that lives in the same apartment complex as me!
