I recently installed a 500 cache PQ for caches in my area onto my Oregon 550. Now, if I want to creat another PQ, for say an area I am going to somewhere else, of maybe 500 more caches, can I load that PQ right into my Oregon as well, so they will just pile in with the 500 I already have on it? So hypethically, I would have 1000 caches on it, so when driving, the list would cycle through all of them seemlessly? Thanks for the input, (obvious newbie and new Oregon owner here)

10/17/2010 at 9:14 am #1937558you can put a maximum of 5000 Caches in the 550 or maximum of 20 GPX files problem that I have found is if the PQ’s overlap the caches will be in the GPS twice. so after you log a found there will still be a cache on your map.
Using GSAK you can filter out the double caches and keep the number of PQ’s down on the unit. I have been filtering by state on Mine being closer to the UP of michigan and can put in the unit most of the caches in the entire UP and NE wisconsin with out reaching the 5000 limit.
It will tell you when you have reached 5000 and it will just dump the extras. but no idea how it picks and chooses which ones to leave out

10/17/2010 at 5:04 pm #1937559Thanks, yeah I was worried about overlap as well, so I attempted to carefully plot my Queries using a map program and did my best to make the distances set so none overlap or duplicate. I’m sure I missed a few caches caught in the “no mans land”, but whats a few caches missed with a few thousand loaded. On that note, are we just blessed in Wisconsin to have a high density of caches or is it like this all over the U.S.? We are pretty lucky.
10/18/2010 at 12:03 am #1937560One problem we are having using an Oregon 450 and GSAK. If we have one file loaded and try to send another, it will clear the first and keep the second. I have made sure the clear files box is unchecked before sending. If I send them as waypoints through mapsource they all show up but not as geocaches.
Any thoughts on what I should try?10/18/2010 at 12:37 am #1937561If you are loading the GPX File to the GPS using the same file name it will overwrite the first one, try changing the name

Hard to read the note that I added to the screen shot, but in the area with the red border, make sure you have a unique name.
I use the name of my PQ like greenbay.gpx or mountain.gpx
Hope this helps

Many Thanks. -
