I’ll be “following” on how we can use these tools. Nice job.

02/08/2012 at 2:29 am #1941990It’s been about 13 months since we last brought this up.
Facebook and Twitter have so matured since then… what would be content to post?

02/08/2012 at 2:39 am #1941991or better put… what would members like to see on the sites. I’ve volunteered to play with this for awhile so I’d like to hear some new ideas.

02/08/2012 at 2:48 am #1941992Facebook? Mature? Heh…
This seems like as good a place as any to announce that Walkingadventure has volunteered to be the WGA’s Facebook administrator. Hopefully, the WGA Facebook page will soon have new content about WGA activities and anything else that might be interesting to Wisconsin geocachers.
Thanks Walkingadventure!
02/08/2012 at 2:52 am #1941993I like to see things from the WGA pop up in my facebook thread. It doesn’t matter to me if it is posts about events, posts about caching experiences, weather, etc.

02/08/2012 at 3:35 pm #1941994It was nice to see the event information for the upcoming LCG|Back to the Cattails pop up in Facebook this morning.
Event reminders, COTM nominees & winners, caching stories, etc. would be good, too.
Another thing I think would be nice would be information about caching destinations. “Come to West Bend where there are nnn caches withing xx miles”, or “visit beautiful yyy park near Chippewa Falls where you can see a beautiful waterfalls and lots of caches”, things like that. If someone wanted a weekend get away it could be a source for good caching destinations and a way for locals to highlight their area.
02/08/2012 at 3:37 pm #1941995Did you list the BOD elections on FB?
02/08/2012 at 5:09 pm #1941996Nope but either when I get home or when I can inconspicuously list it from work, I will.
There’s quite a bit that can go there and meet people where they are and then point them here.

02/08/2012 at 11:33 pm #1941999I actually unsubscribed from the WGA Facebook page because what I see on there, I see on here in the forums. Don’t need to see the same news posted in two places.
But I’m sure most people prefer seeing it on FB.
02/08/2012 at 11:42 pm #1942000Makes sense Todd but maybe if there was something different you might be interested in checking it again?
I wonder how many different members/friends view this website every week?
I’d rather see something new in the FB feed that maybe I didn’t see or know about rather than what my odd-ball cousin latest opinion.
This could be something different but also a portal to guide people here to where all the cool people truly hang out.

02/09/2012 at 3:40 pm #1942001my two cents, since I only pop in sporadically. I find finding info in the forums complicated, unless I know what I’m looking for. Not a slam on the forums, just the nature of the beast.
On the fb page, I enjoy seeing it scroll on my page and then I can pursue further if I choose to look. Everything you posted this week I’ve found helpful. The GSAK training, for instance, is out of my notification range, but close enough that I could go. It did not come as a notification in my email, so I’m contemplating that one, but would not have known about it if you hadn’t prompted with fb.
02/09/2012 at 5:27 pm #1942002Like I said, RT, I pop in here a lot so much of the info on FB is redundant. It all depends how often the user comes here or comes on FB.
I didn’t say I left the WGA FB page, just unsubscribed so it is not on my feeds. I can always go to the WGA FB page later on.
The WGA FB page is still a great tool for those that don’t come here.
