I thought I could figure this one out, but apparently not. Some challenge caches like to see one’s snapshot of a chart, like D/T or months placed or that sort of thing. How can I lift those charts from the big stat sites to create such a snapshot for cache logs?

It’s probably so simple a caveman could do it. ๐Ÿ™„ Thanks!

If you are running Windows 7. There is what’s called a snipping tool.
You mark the area to be snipped out and save as ( HTML-PNG-GIF-Jpeg)
and then post to web page or email.

windows xp – its a few clicks but I think its ctrl-shft-prt scrn that puts a snapshot of your desktop into the clipboard which you can paste into a program or document word for sure possibly paint, but I haven’t tried it).

    mac osx –
CMD-SHF-4 will give you a cross hairs that you click and drag over the area you want.
    CMD-SHF-3 does the entire screen.

Both put them as a png labeled “Screen Shot Date-Time” on the desktop.

Using Windows IE (your browser may vary), I just right click on the graphic file and select “Save Picture As”.

This only gives you that single graphic file, which may be too much or too little, but it’s certainly easy.

It’s not free (actually the price has increased from $30 to $50 in the past couple years) but I use SnagIt every day. It is a super awesome capture tool…pictures, video, sound…if your computer brings it to you this program can capture it.

    Thank You!
I actually took a screen shot of the instructions and saved it on my computer. Then latter that evening our local police officer came by to ask if I received the new roster for the Rescue Squad and if I could make sure that individuals got it, I showed him the technique and how to use it, and now it’s in his bag of tools, I tell you, its going viral on Washington Island… ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have a suggestion but it’s probably not worth the effort unless this is something you do frequently. I use a screen capture tool called Jing (http://www.techsmith.com/download/trials.asp). It’s very handy and lets you share via the internet, paste into e-mails, etc. it saves a history of your captured images. The same site has something called Snagit which I use at work alot and has even more features, but probably too many. Jing lets you add arrows, boxes, text, etc.

But again, Jing is probably overkill if this is not something you do on a regular basis. But in case anyone else finds interest…. I thought I’d mention it ๐Ÿ™‚
