I just bought a Toshiba Netbook with Windows 7. it came with Office Starter but no Outlook. I have Office 2007 on disc, but no drive on my netbook. Is there any way too get outlook on to my netbbok. I haven’t been able to find a free download for it.

I to ran into that same problem. BUT with G-mail, hot mail, and Yahoo mail. I found that you really don’t need Outlook. One problem with using Outlook is
if your net book crashes all your contacts are on the computer and are lost.
Not so if using the other email systems. Just my 2 cents worth.

Assuming you want to MOVE your Microsoft Office from one machine to another, you can contact Microsoft for this. Of course, you may not like the performance of Office on a netbook. It is kind of a resource hog.

And if you just want an email program that resides on your machine (instead of on the net), you can try Outlook Express for free or, if you are feeling adventurous, try Thunderbird (also free).

I’m not sure if the netbook allows connections to other PC’s on your home network, but if it does you could share the CD from another PC on your network.

The downside of a netbook. You could purchase a USB External CD (/DVD) Drive, which might come in handy should other, similar situations arise. Likely cheapest online, but also available from Best Buy.

see for example http://www.buy.com/prod/usb-2-0-slim-external-cd-dvd-rw-burner-drive-for-all-toshiba-netbook/q/sellerid/18700237/loc/101/214691976.html This one has the additional bells & whistles of a DVD burner, which makes it a bit on the pricey-side. A simple CD Drive should be cheaper.

To clarify, I have office on both my PC and my netbook, I just dont have outlook on the netbook. I’d like to have acess to my outlook (roadrunner email) on both because it’s been my primary email for years.

So far, what I’ve used of office works great on the netbook.

Hubby downloaded Office Professional 2010 (which includes Outlook) on my son’s netbook. I think all he did was connect the netbook to our home network system (which includes two other computers – a desktop and a laptop), put the disc into the desktop and did a program/file transfer or something. He did the same thing to get Streets and Trips on the netbook as well. So, it can be done. Sorry I’m not more computer savvy to give details.

On a side note, we’ve been very satisfied with the full compliment of Office on the netbook. It works sweet (It’s not slow) and let’s our son do his homework on the go as he has all the programs he needs at his fingertips.

Thanks Astro D! Dunno why I didn’t think of that. Added the Netbook to the network, but never thought of giving it access to the DVD drive!

Definitely should do the trick! Good Luck!

So you already (via your two PC) have the ability to access ONE email account from TWO different copies of Outlook? How does that work … do you IMAP rather than POP?

I was able to put my office 2007 disc in my tower, and acess it from my netbook via wireless to istall outlook. So yes, now I have outlook on both the netbook and PC. It’s a Roadrunner POP3 server. So, if I have both computers running, whichever one runs the auto send/receive first gets the email. Once that email is on one of the comps, it can’t be accessed with the other comp.

What I find odd, is that I can run programs such as Word, excell, photoshop thru my wireless, on my netbook, pretty much anything thats on my tower, except outlook. Odd that outlook is the only program I can’t access via wireless. Hence having to install it on the netbook.
