I seem to be going through event withdrawl, and despite the many great options for events around Wisconsin, I feel compelled to think about hosting an event in the Wausau area – not sure when – but sometime.
So I was thinking – would anyone be interested in a geocaching event that emphasized photogtraphy? What I’m thinking of is having the event in the evening, giving participants a chance to go caching during the day (with their cameras) then coming together in the evening to share photos and the stories behind them.
Of course, people can just show up to the event to talk and watch the pictures, but we’d need people who would be willing to have pictures to show 🙂 And we’d have to have some fun prizes like – most artistic photo, most dangerous photo – funniest photo… etc. Any pictures of Seth falling through ice gets bonus points 😉
So I dunno – I think it would be fun but looking for other’s opinions as well.

I don’t have Seth going through the ice, but flirting with that possibility. Does that count? 🙄

05/05/2011 at 7:59 pm #1947986Sounds fun but the date would be the largest thing for us. Many commitments in May, June and August so far.

05/06/2011 at 12:17 am #1947987Oh, Surrreee… T&B can’t make my my event just down the road but can already speak for an event in the planning.. (Dripping with sarcasm here) 😉
As someone that always has a camera at the ready when caching this type of event draws my attention, unfortunately our summer is filling up quickly.
05/06/2011 at 1:50 am #1947988Sorry Paul, but an event that relates to my career and passion that I’ve attended for almost 20 years just trumped it. Have it another weekend and we can probably come…like last year’s! 😉
05/06/2011 at 2:33 am #1947989Not to steal the topic as yes, I am interested in an event around photography (always lugging the big camera around).
Already thinking about a fall event and definitely next spring! I may just be the event organizer for the area yet…Back on topic, wonder if you had a scavenger hunt of different items folks would need to photograph to win a door prize? We did that for the kids youth group and they had a blast watching for things that they normally ignore in passing.
05/06/2011 at 2:53 am #1947990Sounds like fun.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
05/06/2011 at 2:06 pm #1947991Sounds like a great idea. It would certainly be original and I do know that there are quite a few talented photographers out there. Can anyone say Bandits? One Paddle Short? and others as well.
05/06/2011 at 2:20 pm #1947992I second that, Matt!! I would love to see some of their collections!
05/06/2011 at 3:50 pm #1947993SOMEWHERE on here I posted a link to a Photocaching site. I guess I did not save it in m Fav’s folder

Found it!05/06/2011 at 5:06 pm #1947995A event dedicated to epic fails of geocachers? I might even attend that one.
05/06/2011 at 5:26 pm #1947996Sounds interesting. I think the photo scavenger hunt idea was a good one. If its on my weekend off, I’d attend.

I’ve got some photos of Splash I’d love to share – does the phrase “whacking the bushes” ring a bell?
