So the weekend of the bash, I am going to get all crazy and try to finish the 37 remaining counties I need to finish up them all in Wisconsin. Is there any easy way to create a route this long? I know which caches in which counties and in which order I am going to do, but I want to know in addition to that what is on my way between the specific caches I am going for .1 mile from the road I will be on. I tried doing the KML export from google maps, and that didnt work well at all. Any way to do this in GSAK? any and all suggestions welcomed, and thanks in advance.

    I think this “COULD” work.
If you have Map Source, load all the cache that you want into that. Add as a waypoint to the route. Then hit calculate and that “should” give you a route that you can then up load to make a PQ. But then again, I may be all wrong about it.

Grab yourself a copy of delorme street atlas or Microsoft streets and trips. I’ve done several 500+ mile county/delorme pages routes with street atlas.

A overview of the process if you are all about just getting the pages and/or counties done:

    1. Start setting up pq’s for the easy stuff, I typically did T2/D3 or less found in the last month, and T,V, and E caches only. Make sure to take advantage of the 1000 caches and pick a zipcode that you think might cover a good chunk of the area you are heading towards.

    2. Import into gsak, then export as a delorme file and import into delorme (the latter 2 will change for streets and trips)

    3. Repeat 1-2 until your target area is covered.

    4. Using delorme start picking caches that will get the mission accomplished, stick to major roads as much as possible. Once you start picking caches it will be like a puzzle and sort of fun. You’ll find yourself back tracking and going but if I turn here and and there I can pick up 3 counties in less time!

    5. Always, always, always, pick a backup cache for each one you pick. If you make sure your pq (or gsak sort) only shows stuff found in the last month or xy days you’ll have a better shot at the cache actually being there. However I did run into a couple that were gone or we just couldn’t find. I just made a list of those and didn’t mark them on the map.

Thanks guys, I got a GSAK tutorial on facebook from KC9GBO last night and I was able to import the KML points into GSAK as a filter and find within .5 of that route and it worked wonderfully.

I hadnt even thought about limiting the pq for DT but that is a great idea, not only will it show a bigger area if i limit them. I think I will use that found in the last x days also.

    I appreciate all the help!

With the Delorme 2011 streets and the Delorme 8.0 or 9 you can set your drive so all turns are on your right as travel the roads also you can set up a grid that could be your .5 miles off the roads you travel I do a del route each morning an it works great you also can place all your caches into a auto router. hope this helps.
