The new caches hidden for the event this year will be published at 11:00 PM on Thursday for anyone who would like to download them at home and avoid waiting in line for downloads at the event. The event cache booklets and stamping cards for prizes will not be available until registration begins at noon on Friday.
08/09/2011 at 4:27 am #1951496Is there a way to search or filter for just the event caches on gc.com so we can be sure we are getting event caches only? Or even a list of them somewhere so we can be sure we are downloading them all.
08/09/2011 at 4:48 am #1951497Some are as far away as 12 miles to the north and west. They all begin with the prefix 11_ _, 1101 thru 1166. That’s about all that I can offer.
08/09/2011 at 7:54 pm #1951498There was talk of having a public bookmark list for just the new caches. Not sure if that is still happening. Keep an eye on the cachepage.
08/09/2011 at 8:31 pm #1951499Yes, we can put the GPX file on the cache page… or I can make a bookmark list. Don’t worry… something will be available.
08/10/2011 at 1:50 am #1951500Since I have an older unit that can’t handle GPX files – a bookmark list would be great… Thanks
08/10/2011 at 4:24 pm #1951501Ooopsies…. I just remembered I have to work Thursday night…. I’m happy to make a Bookmark List of the caches from work, but depending on how busy it is, it might not be ready exactly when they’re published… It may take an hour or two.
I wish I could make a Bookmark list ahead of time, but the caches have to be published in order to add them.
It may be delayed, but it will get added.

08/10/2011 at 4:26 pm #1951502I will just make my bookmark list public and add it to the cache page once they are published. (It would do no good to add it before publication, as it would not work correctly.)

Cool. Thanks, Deejay

08/12/2011 at 1:05 pm #1951505nice work guys, the bookmark list and the pocket query of the event caches worked great. Thanks for making it easy on us. See ya there.
08/13/2011 at 4:27 am #1951506Worked perfectly! Even in the rain! Thanks! :oui: :oui:
08/15/2011 at 10:34 am #1951507Was anyone even in line at the download station? Great job on everything to do with the WBCB.
See you next year for our 5th one!

08/15/2011 at 2:37 pm #1951508I really appreciated having the opportunity to download the caches from home, prior to traveling to West Bend. Thank you, WisKid for making your bookmark list public for all of us. That really helped.
I was disappointed in the number of caches that were found prior to the start of the event. I realize that the error in publishing the caches Thursday morning may have played some role in that, with FTFs being logged Thursday afternoon, but many FTF logs indicated that the cachers were out early Friday morning.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

I was actually fast enough to run a pocket query getting all the locations at around 1pm on Friday. While I did not go for the FTF run of a lifetime, I did take the extra time to map out my route. It was nice getting done with that at in the afternoon and getting a good nites sleep vs starting the mapping process at 11pm and getting 3-4 hours sleep. Still, Black Belts and I managed two FTF and saw another team get a FTF so there were still some out there after the event started.
