I just bought one of these to see how well they work, but I got to thinking, this could make for an evil cache if the range is decent. Anyone run across one of them in the field?
09/02/2011 at 3:19 pm #1952804Why do we need evil caches? We’ve pretty much decided when we see “evil,” we’re moving on, unless the location is worth a visit. Some love that kind of thing, so maybe they’d savor something like this.
09/02/2011 at 3:24 pm #1952805The range is 3-15 meters. That’s about a 45′ circle. So… You’ll know you are close and should start searching when you lose GPS signal. π
09/02/2011 at 3:30 pm #1952806Well you won’t see mine out in the woods anytime soon, but figured since these exist someone probably has already made a cache out of one π Might have to bring it to the next event I go to, just to see how many weird looks I can generate.
09/02/2011 at 3:48 pm #1952807Caching with buddies? Stick this in your backpack and see what happens. π π

I like this idea, or when your driving in the car with someone who relies on there nuvi to figure out how to get somewhere, turn it on and off every couple miles.

I was thinking about walking down the trail and flipping it on when you’re about 0.1 miles away.
09/02/2011 at 3:58 pm #1952810Wouldn’t be a problem for me.
I always carry a compass in my pack and know how to use it as well as pace a distance. Comes in handy when you’re in a deep valley or other extreme terrain.
09/02/2011 at 3:59 pm #1952811I should buy one for my BOL, the plumber! They installed tracking devices in their vehicles, so he can’t bring the work truck over anymore…which cuts down on the inexpensive plumbing!
Always a big brother watching someone. π

09/02/2011 at 4:43 pm #1952813– Prevent car and people from being tracked
– Prevent rented-car and lent-car from being tracked
– Prevent car of government, intelligence agency, famous person, principal, plumber, etc. from being trackedDisclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
09/02/2011 at 4:45 pm #1952814Looks like something that someone under house arrest could use like Neal Caffrey on Whilte Collar.
09/02/2011 at 4:48 pm #1952815Probably would not get approved if used on a cache as it is the opposite of what geocaching is supposed to be.

Hey, what ever happened to the positive-thinking, “live and let live” T&B? π

Could be interesting if used in conjunction with one of those new chirp things. Put in the status you will know you are close when your gps stops working and your chirp starts locating or however those things go.
