My 2008 WI geocow coin disappeared from the original cache it was placed in…Gertie’s goal was to travel around the state of Wisconsin. A cacher in California just recently found it in a cache! He was kind enough to mail it back to me after I contacted him…received it in the mail today π π π Gertie was missing for over two years and I had given up hope of ever hearing about her moo-o-oving again. She’s now part of my “Discover Only” collection. I have another like her, Bessie, which also appears to have disappeared along with a number of other coins/tbs. But it’s nice to know that there’s still hope.
Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
09/22/2011 at 8:48 pm #1953483lots of resurrected coin stories in the GC geocoin forums. I have had one or two come back into play after long absences. It is a good feeling to get word that they are well and traveling again.

Original mover holds it 7 years, then the next 2 people who find it, it’s their 1st trackable. Somehow still traveling.
01/20/2012 at 8:35 pm #1953486Just had my first travel bug disappear somewhere near Area 51. I know it happens, but @ such a highly traveled spot, it seems that someone may have just misplaced it… (I hope). It’s marked as missing for the time being. Can they be reactived if found at a later date?
03/10/2012 at 2:24 pm #1953487And miracle of all miracles….Bessie popped up in a Texas cache today. It had been in the hands of a cacher since 9/25/09. His log reads:
“We found it! And I dropped a coin. The story behind the coin is I recently moved to Texas. Unpacked a box…and oops…I had it with me…for a long time. This coin unfortunately did not want to leave the state of Wisconsin. So if you grab it, please start taking it north.”
That’s two GC’s in the past several months that had been feared lost but have reappeared. Maybe there’s hope yet for the others I have missing πOconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
04/12/2012 at 1:45 am #1953488Funny story behind this one, it appears to have gone awol back in the summer of 2010 from a cache in Carver-Roehl Park. Ironically, I posted a note that it was gone when we were down for the annual event there. So today I was going through the container of a cache that I pulled and replaced and found the trackable down in the bottom. It was never logged in and none of the finders of my hide ever saw this, but there it was. Been hanging out on a shelf in my basement for about 4 months. 8)

04/12/2012 at 7:51 pm #1953490I just activated a trackable and then went caching in Fort Atkinson. Somewhere while out and about I dropped it. So it never even got a chance! Thought it was kind of humorous though, it’s trying to get to Florida. Hopefully it fell out near a cache.
04/22/2012 at 9:06 pm #1953491Well, here’s another one of our TB’s that was given up for lost. A cacher picked it up back in September of 2010 and sat on it. Numerous email were sent, asking them to kindly get it back moving. The emails were never responded to, so we figured it was in some child’s toybox or something. (It’s a Pound Puppy that sorta looks like our former geodog Ginger). Today a posting shows up that they moved it 4 miles into a new cache!
Ginger the GeoDog TB – TB18ZAE – is back in the chase! We only have 4 or 5 more now that have dropped out of sight…
