This is one of the many reasons I love this game so much. Last weekend took two of the grand kids out for their first hunt. In the process of of looking up caches near their home I stumbled across some wonderful Wisconsin history I never knew about.

This cache taught me something I never knew.

After a little researchI found this information. also this site had some interesting pictures.

Thanks to gecocahing I now know a little more about the state I call home.

I couldn’t agree more. This cache is one of my favorites – my log entry..

I had my two grandkids (8 and 6) with me for their first Cache hunt. We found it… I knew there was a Nike site in the area for over 40 years, but never took the time to actually look for it. I found it especially interesting because I was trained on the Nike system back in the mid 60’s at Fort Bliss – but never used the training. I plan to go back again to look at the buildings.

That cache is only 1 and a half miles from my house and didn’t know anything about it even being there until I did the cache!

after the site closed, the little building is still used as an indoor small caliber rifle range. Its the location as a child that I grew up learning competition shooting. Unfortunately I no longer compete in these leagues but as my children are growing up, I hope to get them involved in it so they can learn as I have.

I get warm fuzzies when I think about this cache. It was our third find ever and it took us two tries to locate it, back in our pre-GPS days when we only had an iPhone to use for trying to figure out this new sport. [:)]

I remember this cache, as I dropped the CO’s TB here that had made it back from Key West. Before he could get it, POOF! Off it went to Texas!

Not the first cache at that site:

          Ivan Ain’t Comin’

We found it back in June of 2002.
