Well I’ve heard alot about geocaching. My son got to try it at his summer camp this year, and has been asking to use my GPS since. Up until now it’s been used for hunting and fishing. I have no idea on what I have to do to get started. I have found a few forums with info in the E.C. area but how do I get the first clue or #’s?

Be careful, our first GPSr was used for just hunting and fishing, but that’s in the past! If you log on to the geocaching website, you can create a free account and then do a search by zip code. You’ll be surprised how many are right in your area. Have fun.

Welcome to the forums and geocaching. Let me know what you need to get started, and I can show you the ropes if you are available Wed or Fri morning.

Thank you Trekkin and Birdin! I have registered, and seems to be the right start thanks! I wonder if there is a way to change my username so it would be the same for both sites? (not really a big deal though)

Thank you zuma for the info also! I think this will be fun. My six year old son and I found the cache at the Felsenmeer II Staging Area this morning while deer hunting! What a great spot! Even though my GPS would only stay on for about ten minutes at a time, and then required removing the batteries to turn on again 😕 we still had alot of fun. We hope to get out to Lowes Creek on friday! (possibly with a new GPS)

Oh, we were caching up that way last Friday and would have liked to do that cache. One day we will. What a great start for you!
