The 2012 WGA coin contest is officially open!

The WGA will be producing a 2012 WGA Geocoin for sale to all members and the general public. The sale of this coin will help raise funds to operate the WGA.

As with past WGA Geocoins we are going to turn the design of our coin over to the members and friends of the WGA!

Please read all information below thoroughly.

This year the contest is only for both sides of a geocoin. The coin theme must be related to the 10th year of WGA events, with at least one side of the coin highlighting the WGA’s 10th birthday.

Please try to draw up an idea (even with a pen or pencil is okay) to submit. All ideas/designs will be considered. We will be able to work with the vendor to make the final artwork ready for minting the coin, so we’re just looking for a great design idea. Feel free to take a picture of your design if done with pen/pencil/colored pencils/crayons or scan it with a scanner. Your submission does not need to be drawn with a computer graphics program.

The design development and submission period will last until 4/17/2012 at 11:59PM. With the winning design being chosen by the geocoin committee.

    Prizes
The winning design as voted on by the committee will be awarded:

    (1) 2012 WGA Geocoin and

    (1) WGA T-Shirt

Ok, I’m not an artist – I have the tools but lack the skills, I’ll stick my neck out there anyway. Here’s my idea for the coin.

The colors don’t seem to come across right and I don’t know how to curve the letters in the program I used so take that into consideration please.

Coin in the shape of 10(as best as possible of course)

Front: Original logo in the center of the zero, names of the cachers who signed up on the first day of the wga exsistence circling the logo

Back: New logo colors in center, 10 years later.. and Wisconsin Geo. Assoc circling it, web address and gc number on the one (maybe swap spots for easier reading)

I love these design processes. I went throgh this with a coin and the end product was great.

I love the 10 with the original logo in it. this is not an entry but could be a cool combo of ideas.

Here is my stab at it. I was thinking we’ve already had WI shaped, round and cow, so how about rectangle? I grabbed graphics from previous coins, so these can/should be tweaked to be unique for this year…

this one looks great just curve the corners raise the lettering and graphics and make it look like a real licence plate.

Okay, I apologize in advance. I have zero artistic ability… I would need somebody to help me out with a better computerized version. But here is my idea anyway… A GPSr-shaped coin with our Wisconsin logo as the screen.
