I have rented a pontoon to take a caching crew of 4 out to Power Island on August 18th, 3pm to 7pm. The pontoon can carry 13 people, so I have 9 open seats for anyone who would like to join us to go get Michigan’s oldest cache.

For those who do not know, Power Island is Michigan’s oldest cache, and is needed by nearly anyone who thinks that they might want to complete the Jasper Challenge at some point. See GC35 for details.

Looks like a great cache. Only drawback is the distance. For those in the northern part of the state, Traverse City is about 6 hours from Marinette. For those in the south, it is about 7 hours from Janesville to Traverse City, going thru the lower pennisula.

Seats will be available on a first come, first served basis.

    thanks

    ^^^^ What everyone else said . . . Only problem is I have a wedding to attend that day already. . . . Decisions . . . Decisions.

Otherwise a carpool could pickup LG and Todd up on the way.

Funny thing is…that cache is only 100 miles from me as the crow flies….yet, it will take about 5 and a half hours to get to Traverse City if I only make one stop.

I hope you guys decide to join us, as it ought to be a lot of fun. If we get 10 people to go, it will be about $30 for the boat ride each.

Well, count me in. Let’s see if we can fill the boat.

Those of you going north will most definitely be passing my house – lol – as I live on M-35.

I’ll think about this one. Money is the biggest issue here.

I have thought about making a weekend of it in TC as it is a cache rich area.

That’s something I was thinking about. I’m thinking of dropping in on my grandparents in Bear Lake.

If money is an issue, you may want to either camp or find a motel outside of the Traverse City area. TC is a very very expensive tourist area. We are staying in Grayling which is not far away and near to where Mighigan’s second oldest cache is – 612. Grayling is much cheaper place to stay.

Also note that there is a 300 cache power trail not far north of TC, that you can get all in one day.

Nevermind, looks like I’ll be on Lake Michigan from this end that weekend. Fishing trip my mother has been trying to pull off for 3 years. You guys have fun.

Likewise. It is just too long of a trip for me just to spend one day geocaching.
