I bought a new laptop and installed GSAK 7 on it only to find out that there are no macros to support it any more so I couldn’t load my NUVI. I installed GSAK 8 but am having trouble installing a macro on it too…am waiting for their techies to get back to me but am wondering if anyone in the WGA forums might have a suggestion.

    What macro are you using?

I’m running GSAK 8.1.1.124 and loading my NUVI 500 using the GarminExport macro.

Rod, not sure why you having issues with macros. I run GSAK 8 and run macros with no problem. If you still have issues, I can stop by Friday after work and take a look if you’d like.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but this one won’t work either…probably my lack of expertise although when I loaded my old version 7 several years ago, it worked perfectly. I used the pilotsnipes directions but apparently things have changed. I’m tempted to wipe out all the old files and start over.

Let me see what kind of reply I get from the techies “down under”…it takes GSAK a while to respond.

Going from memory here, but doesn’t that macro require the Garmin Waypoint manager to be installed also?

No, I believe it requires that you have POI loader to send the file to the unit after the macro runs. If you want to send them as “favorites”, you can just use the send to GPS command, but their won’t be much detail.

Exactly the thing I was thinking but not what I typed. Good catch.

Have that…am wondering whether the two are connecting.

Does the macro run at all? Give an error message? I know when I run my Nuvi macro I get an error message when I start it but it still works. The only thing is I have to run the POI loader myself after the macro is done working it’s magic.

Exactly what I do. I run the POI Loader manually myself.

The techies ‘down under’ told me this one isn’t intended for use with a NUVI after I tried it…I almost thought I had it working, to a point. They gave me a couple of other macros to try…so far no luck. It’s a slow process dealing with them…Australian time zone difference.

To Averith and Todd300…I’m surprised you have to manually run the POILoader…I’ve never had to with GSAK 7.

It’s only takes an extra second. As soon as the macro runs, I click the POI loader icon on the desktop right away. No biggie.

Seems strange that it works for one version of the NUVI, but not for another. Could be that your NUVI has a different software revision that the macro doesn’t recognize.

What NUVI version do you have?
