      For the past few years I participated in the Leaf it to Rusk fall geocache contest in Rusk County. In 2011 and now 2012 they will not be doing anything.
      Also, in 2007 I particiapted in the Chippewa Valley Geocaching Event where 100 caches were placed throughout that county. These were great events with a challenge that our entire family went out and did together.

      I have not been able to find any in Wisconsin, does anyone know of some?

      There is one running in northern IL – Cache Your Way Across McHenry County that ends Nov 30. I’ll be working on that one, but really want to find one in WI.

        You can run a pocket query for challenge caches in WI and you’ll find lots of challenge caches and caching series. Some have a specific expiration date – for example, the Amazing Race series just ended last week, 33 caches total. Another example – there are three “Survivor” games that I know of taking place right now in WI. Other challenges are open to everyone and are ongoing with no expiration. Some examples:

        – WISCONSIN RUSTIC ROAD CHALLENGE (GC2C4J0) – Find 22 WRR caches along designated Wisconsin Rustic Roads, including two from each of the four quandrants of the state
        – OLD SILO CHALLENGE (GC3AXA5) – Find at least 50 of the 100 Old Silo caches placed by Mr. Greenthumb & Sunshine
        – WSQ- CEMETERY HIDE CHALLENGE (GC3E53D) – Find at least 50 Wisconsin cemetery caches
        – WISCONSIN ROADSIDE WIERDNESS CHALLENGE (GC2M3MW) – Find 20 of the listed 40 caches that are Wisconsin oddities

        So were you looking for certain challenge caches, or specific “contests” that last only for a defined amount of time where you compete against others?

          There is an event in Mauston (about 20 miles NW of the Dells) that has a contest for that day only (October 20). Otherwise, you can do the new caches they put out for that at any time you want, but no contest. There is also a Meet & Greet the night before.
