Not sure if this topic belongs in the off topic forum or if it is indeed on topic as it relates to geocaching. Anyway…
So my husband has been in Dallas at a board game convention π and one day his friend starts poking and whispering to him about how Rich Sommer from the show Mad Men was nearby. His friend was a big fan and trying to think of how to approach this guy. My husband happened to be wearing his WGA t-shirt this day. Well Rich Sommers out of the blue comes up to him and starts talking to him about geocaching because he’d noticed his shirt. He wanted to know if BJ (my husband) was going to be doing any geocaching in TX and then they got on the subject of puzzle caches. He said that there was a D5 puzzle nearby that he’d agonized over for the longest time and then after several hours had solved it. He was really frustrated because he hadn’t managed to find the time to go make the find yet and he was afraid he’d have to leave TX before earning his smiley. BJ’s friend was pretty jealous that Rich Sommers had talked to him! π Anyway, I just thought it was a funny story. Geocaching is great for all kinds of people!

That’s what I would have done.
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Apparently some things are more important than caching? π― π

11/21/2012 at 7:12 pm #1965908My husband didn’t ask his name, I think he wanted him to be able to maintain some privacy. I’m just really curious about the puzzle though! And my husband didn’t have a car, not sure about Rich Sommers, and I believe they were in the middle of some kind of tournament. Can you believe that geocaching isn’t everyone’s top leisure priority?! π

Absolutely. In fact, I’ve spent many hours this week at another of my favorite hobbies that only comes once a year for 9 days. π
Always cool to bump into someone famous though regardless of the situation.
