~~posting this for another member, please let me know if the intent remains the same as you original question~~

With all the WGA events, the membership enjoys BOD presence at the events run by the WGA. If elected, how many of the events can you attend or leave your presence at?
If you cannot attend, how will you contribute to the WGA events.

As a 1st year BOD member this past year, I was able to attend the Chili Feed, Campout (committee chair), WBCB, and Picnic as well as host a WGA CITO in Madison.
Our schedule hasn’t been confirmed quite yet (overseas trip), but I would expect to make all but one of those events again this year.

As far as all of the events that are planned so far I will be attending them all. If ever I am unable to attend an upcoming WGA event, I will be sure to do all that I can in the helping of planning the event and preparing. I really can’t see a reason for not attending any events though unless it was an unexpected emergency.

We plan on attending all the events every year, to me that is the most important part of being a BOD member is to be out where the membership can meet and talk with you. So for sure the Campout, picnic, WBCB, the spring CITO and any other events that we can make we will be there.

Thank you for this question because I can not say it enough times, being on the WGA BOD means making a commitment to taking part in both the planning and the implementing of the events. And, it is also more than just “showing up” at the event as well.

For 2013, the BOD has already reserved the facilities/sites for the LCC event, the Chili event and Camp out – as Treasurer, I can confirm that. The Committee forums are already planning the Chili event and Camp out and I am participating in that.

I have already planned to attend these events, the West Bend pancake event plus the Fall picnic.

The only events I missed the past 4 years were the pancake event the Sunday of the camp out – I had been part of the activities on both Friday night and all day Saturday in both cases and had made arrangements for someone to handle my role at the breakfast – Thanks to Tie and Pat of Sandlanders – and still handled the financials following the event. My role as Treasurer has involved work prior to and following each event.

My answer is, I am planning to attend and participate in the events and if I have a work or family obligation come up that conflicts I find someone to take my role so no one is short handed. I also handle the responsibilities that come following an event. Plus, my side kick usually attends and works with me …

So far, I have the Winter Bonfire and Spring Campout set in stone on my calendar (I am currently on both committees). I will be at the WBCB tending to the Leave No Trace Booth. I will be trying to attend some of the WGA CITOS as well, if I cannot attend, I will be able to show support by sending LNT Geocaching Hang Tags that can be handed out as well.

Well, I’ll miss the LCG event and the spring campout; but I’ll make the bonfire, WBCB and fall picnic. As far as CITO’s go, we’ll have to see where and when.
Events I don’t make, I can still help out behind the scenes.

If I am elected to the WGA BOD, my expectations on myself would be that I would be at ALL WGA events and try to make as many other events as time, location and availablilty would allow me to be at.

My 1st event was the 1st WB Cache Bash in 2008. Since then I’ve been to 33 events (qualifying for the Social Butterfly Challenge Cache).

Should there be some reason I could not attend (most likely only due to a family commitment) I’d do like I am doing with the upcoming LCG Event on Feb 2nd. I’m cohosting with 2 others (1 lives 1hr away, another 2 hrs away) so I’m communicating through emails, keeping up with what work needs done and what progress is happening. We haven’t spoke in person yet but have almost completed all the planning just through email.

With the technology available, the BOD can “work together” from hundreds of miles apart to bring together what’s needed. It can be a challenge but staying flexible and wanting to work together is all you really need.

I hope to be able to attend all events but those that are on Sundays I will be late for as I am the only male member of my church’s ‘Praise Team’ and I do not want to let that team down either.

As my family and work come first in my life those take precedence. However I will make an effort to attend WGA events.

I try to get to as many events as I can anyways, I mostly have problems with Sunday’s that I am serving at Church on the Tech Team, because those Sundays I am at church from around 8:30am – 12:30pm. I am bummed because This year I have to miss the Janboree caching events in Waukesha, because I will be attending a wedding in Wisconsin Rapids. If I were elected to the BOD I would of course try that much more to be participating in WGA events and attending others as well.

    Thank you,
    Tim Saavedra
