Please share what part of Wisconsin you are from and where you have traveled in the state while caching. Not a requirement, but feel free to expand on some of your memorable Wisconsin caching adventures away from your home area.
We are from Mountain, WI a small town in NE Wisconsin.
Over the years we have cached in every county in WI and have completed the original delorme challenge.
Some of our favorite caches over the years have been the Military Cache series in Kaukauna GC26ERC, Cemented in History CG8E5D, LaSalle Falls GC62B0, and the Long Tail Point Lighthouse Caches. GCXHNH.
We try to get out every weekend and find a few caches, we make frequent trips to Milwaukee to visit friends, and usually a monthly trip to Madison as Val’s Doctors are there.
We are from Slinger, WI. right by Pike Lake. We have geocached in many different areas. (Milwaukee and all of southeastern WI, Lakewood area, and Marshfield area). Upcoming plans to geocache in Green Bay, Sheboygan, and Madeline Island areas. We loved geocaching around Lakewood where we have a cabin. Great way to spend some time around town while visiting. Otherwise I’d have to say the caches around the Third Ward of Milwaukee are always fun when going to the city.
My family and I moved here to Neenah from Columbus, IN back in 1999.
I don’t qualify yet for the DeLorme Challenge but that is a goal of mine in the next few years to finish.
What impressed me most about WI, after moving here was all the different activities you could head out to do. I’ve snowshoed, canoed, biked, walked, run, and driven to lots of adventures.
My top favorites geocaching adventures took place canoeing down the Fox and Wolf rivers, climbing the cliffs of Door County and High Cliff parks and hitting those “hidden” historical spots along the Fox River during caching hikes. I don’t know if I can ever pick an all-time favorite but I do have Favorites list!

I live in a suburb of Milwaukee so the majority of my caching has been in the southeastern part of the state. But we have land and a cabin up in Taylor county and we have spent a lot of time up there. I love road trips so I’ve been all over Wisconsin, some of it pre-caching days. I love to hike on the IAT and have completed Mr. Greenthumb and Sunshine’s IAT Half-Trail challenge. I’d also really like to complete Trekkin and Birdin’s State Lands BINGO Challenge, I’m working on it. Long before we discovered geocaching my husband and I got into the habit of keeping an atlas in the car and then taking the “long way home” to see something interesting along the way. This has taken us all over Wisconsin, and all over the country too!
One thing I love about Wisconsin is how active the outdoorsy people are regardless of the weather. Geocaching has especially shown me how much fun you can have during any season. I’ve donned showshoes or paddled a canoe to find caches and always have a great time!
I love Wisconsin’s forests, we really have beautiful trees. I spend a lot of time visiting the Southern Kettle Moraine SP and have several caches there. You just can’t beat our northwoods though and I love spending time up at our cabin where the woods are a little more wild. The rock formations near the Dells are so amazing, I was so intrigued by the rocks in Rocky Arbor State Park that I was determined to create an EarthCache there. The coastline is beautiful once you get a little north of Milwaukee. We’ve been to Harrington Beach SP several times because it reminds me so much of the ocean and when my husband was stationed out in Monterey, CA except it is a lot cleaner and no salt water. And whenever we head west to visit family in Colorado on a roadtrip we take 151 across beautiful, hilly southwestern WI which is so much more interesting than heading south to the interstate – boring!
I am determined to make it back to the Apostle Islands this summer. I haven’t been there since I was a teenager so it’s time to show my kiddos that beautiful part of the state.

I reside in Wausau, WI. Yes, the majority of my finds come from here but I have also hit most of the state except for the NW corner. My most memorable cache to date would be You Picked a Fine time to Leave Me Lucille, http://coord.info/GCJWPT
What made this cache very enjoyabe was that I was with great friends and fellow Cachers.
I live in Sussex, WI with my wife and son. Wisconsin is my home state, I was born and raised in Milwaukee: however I have traveled to and / or through just about every county. I have not cached in every county yet though.
Most of my cache finds are in the SE part of the state. Caching helps me channel my need for adventure and outdoor activity.

Through caching I’ve made several new friends, have come closer to family and had some interesting conversations with old friends.

I live in Wisconsin Rapids which is in central WI. I’m originally from Racine so caching to and from Racine I cover quite a bit if turf in SouthEastern WI. But also venture North into Rhinelander, Eagle River, Sayner, Medford, and Door County areas every year too. I am a member of the Belle City Coffee Clutch (BCCC)a geocacing group in Racine that meets for coffee Saturday mornings and talks all things geocaching and then some. I find it really neat how a GPSr led to a new bike, skies, snowshoes, kayak, another GPSr and lots of great friendships. Two of my most recent memorable WI geo-adventures Would have to be the Amazing Geocaching Race on a section of the Bug Line Trail down in Sussex, how a team of four cachers who never met before became a team and then FRIENDS. And how a Wild Bunch of WI Geocachers made an attack on Camalot at GC3WKNB-The Quest for the Holy Grail down in Iowa. And locally some my favorites were GC13MR-Skeleton Keys, GC13MRE- Spinal Coord, GC1M3QZ-Bone Collector. They were fun advetures of chasing down travel slugs with clues and then canoeing the Wisconsin River, solving field puzzles. Oh and of coures as of late fianally solving and finding GC249BJ-Granny Squares.
I live in Pulaski, which is fairly close to Green Bay. As I noted in my intro, my caching is fairly sporadic. Most of my finds come in the Shawano, Brown and Outagamie counties, but I’ve touched on some odd areas. I would have to say that my most memorable caching would be: 1. The day I finished up the SCC challenge, 2. Rusk County challenge, 3. Lookout Above II | Last One Standing.
To be honest the best memories are from challenging caches or series that were shared with others.I’m from Madison (I actually grew up in Monona) and have cached in all 72 counties. Meyer’s falls and Bull falls caches in Florence county stick out as you have over a two mile drive into the forest on a firelane before you get close enough to search for the caches. Also there was one that I didn’t get the meaning of the name…ERDQ. I was with GrammyB on our ‘finish the state counties’ tour and I told her that I think the DQ stands for Dairy Queen but I don’t get the ER. She looked at me like I had the IQ equivalent to the lake water temperature in January and just asked one simple question. Where are we? That’s when the light went on as we were in Eagle River.

I am from the Milwaukee-Waukesha area. While I have had no desire to specifically complete the counties or delorme challenge, I have found geocaches across the state. I suspect I have skipped a few counties or pages along the way.
Across the state ..
I have memories of attending the Caching the Dunes event held at Whitefish Dunes State Park by Dumpa GCMAKC .. learned that is a heck of a drive to do in one day.
I have memories of exploring the trails at 2011 WGA Geo-Picnic held at Burnett State Park GC31517 .. a park I would have never known existed if it had not been for geocaching.
I have memories of giving a presentation on geocaching to the Tri-State Tourism group in Platteville .. and taking a few members out later in the day to find a cache near the hotel.
And this past Fall, exploring the Eagle River area once again.
