I need to know how to find out which county a cache is in, specifically when it is visually straddling the border from all aerial views and maps. I don’t have GSAK. How does the GC site do it for “stats” purposes? Thanks.

On the cache page of the cache in question, click on the Mapquest button. Mapquest shows the county lines.

Still no help. It’s always sitting exactly on the line, same as in my Delorme and in the online topo maps. Just wondering… if that was my only cache for the two counties, which one would it count as? The stats programs have to decide somehow.
But it’s not anything big. I can call it what I want. Just trying to identify all of the Adams County caches. GC2F6E5
01/17/2013 at 1:54 am #1967341Macro mapcounties.gsk on GSAK calls it as Adams County, if that helps, or not π π
Can check for another macro if you don’t like the answer 8)
(Mapquest, via zuma!’s advice, appears to show it south of the border as well…….but the Mapquest map in GSAK shows the opposite, but the Google map in GSAK shows it south of the border again…………)
01/17/2013 at 2:12 am #1967342From my memory of the placement of that cache, I would say that it is in Adams County. But it is so close that if you wanted an ironclad determination you’d need to hire a surveyor. π
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

Yes, that helps. I will call it an Adams County cache.
GC2NV4V . . . This one definitely looks like Wood County (and I’ve always thought of it as Wood), but the given latitude is farther south than that of the other one! Must have to do with the curve of the earth or something…
01/17/2013 at 2:41 am #1967344SL,
Here is my list of all known caches in Adams County, I have the list in GSAK, but printed it out in PDF format for you. 214 active caches that I know of

GSAK sez WOOD be GOOD!

Thanks, Barry! And PDF is always the right way to go for me.
Now if GSAK could just get with the program and make GSAK for Mac…
01/21/2013 at 7:40 am #1967347You know, the simplest approach is to hit the Bing Maps link on the cache page, which provides the county and municipality (and even the state if you have problems with that!)
01/21/2013 at 3:08 pm #1967348Slick! Thanks Team Deejay!
01/21/2013 at 3:43 pm #1967349At first I thought… “I have looked at all sorts of maps!”, but then I spotted the words in the upper left corner of the map that gave the state and the county. Whew! Thanks, Deejay!
BTW, when we visited the no-longer-there virtual at Four Corners out west, we were curious as to how that cache would show up statewise. Saw after we wrote the log that it was in Arizona.
