Hello everyone, I was asked again to put on geo 101 type classes again for Pike Lake State Park. The date would be on June 1st the times would be from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. I would like to include the WGA in the event as a way to get the name out there and to have people see what it is all about. Pike Lake is doing a program called Discovery Days, where they are promoting things to do outdoors. There will be kayak demonstrations and other stuff going on. The way I was doing the programs last year that the head superintendent liked, was basically taking a group of 5-8 people and briefly tell them about geocaching like a 10 min speech and then show them how to use one of the GPS’s on hand and guide them to find 5 temp caches around the area. Then after words help with questions or anything else people might need help with. The event would be held at the beach area. I would like to have a couple people out there as representatives of the WGA and to also help out and take people out. So if anyone is interested from the community education committee to help that would be great. I am also going to post this in the regular forums don’t know if it should be in the help area or somewhere else LOL. We’ll let me know what/who is interested in helping.

Good idea Kevin. Should there NOt be a girls soccer regional game that day, I’m available but right now Neenah is scheduled to play but no times scheduled.

If you get no takers from this committee, let me know and I’ll aslo put something out on the FB page when you post to the regular forums, too.

Hello everyone well we are 1 week away. I still could use some help on June 1st giving quick introductions to geocaching like a 5-10 min description to geocaching then show them how to use a GPS’r and help them go out and find 5 temp caches. If intrested let me know the times will be from 8-12 then afterwards stick around and find all the caches in the park like the Dr Seuss series and the many other ones that are there. thanks in advance.

It is also a free weekend to the parks so you do not need a sticker to get in and use the parks

Sorry Kevin, the free admission day is on Sunday June 2 only. I just checked the DNR website. Free fishing both days and free bike trails on both days too.

copyed this off the discover wisconsin site……Wisconsin State Park Open House Day: June 2nd, 2013

Enjoying Wisconsin state parks, forests, trails and recreation areas is a bargain any time of year but on the first Sunday of June they are an exceptional value, as entrance to any state properties is free. No admission stickers are required on vehicles and trail passes are not required for activities ranging from bicycling to horseback riding on state trails. In addition, Saturday, June 1 is National Trails Day and fees are waived to use all DNR-managed state trails as well.
