Just wanted to throw this out there for anyone who might interested. A Bar Camp is being held in Fond du Lac, Sept 14, 2013 at Marian University’s Stayer Center.
What’s a bar camp you ask? Well here is the Wikipedia article on the subject: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BarCamp .
I plan on attending and doing a presentation on geocaching, I’m also a member of the planning committee working on setting this up.
The website for Bar Camp Fond du Lac is, http://www.barcampfdl.org/ , and we also have a Facebook page if you would like to check that out, https://www.facebook.com/BarCampFDL
I had never heard of a bar camp before, so I checked out the link. I am still unsure what it is. 😕
It’s basically a conference of people where the people attending the conference are the ones doing the presenting of topics. You sign up for a time slot to do a presentation on “XYZ” and if people are interested they come and check it out.
So for example I plan on doing a talk about geocaching. When I arrive in the morning their will be a board where I can sign up for a time slot in one of the many rooms that will be available. When the time comes I will give my presentation (each presenter will have approx 45 minutes to an hour), answer questions, have a discussion.
Some of the topics I know that have been thrown about by people who are involved in the planning have been; Papermaking with Recycled Materials, Molecular Gastronomy, Photoshop: how to edit any image, Open SCAD – Designing 3D Objects, Symfony2 by Example.
This is just a small example of the type of things that will be presented, I’ve even heard someone thinking of teaching how to make head cheese.
Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
