      So what was your first ever hide? and is it still active?

      My first hide is GC1QZK3 . I hid it over four years ago, about a few weeks after I first started geocaching.

      With 181 finds, it is also my most active cache.

      Sometimes I like going back on the logs on some of my hides, including the archived ones.

        Our first hide was a WSQ. I archived it to place a different cache in it, but someone else tossed a P/G there before I could get the historic puzzle done!

        Oh, well. 😥

        I like looking back at the logs, too, especially the Event pictures. If cachers aren’t smiling in the pictures (or if no one TOOK pictures), we didn’t think it through very well!

          “Down By The River” is our first cache hide. Even though this is archived, we are using the same spot for “Remember the Nimmo”. When our good friend, the guy who introduced us to geocaching with the caching name of Nimmo, died, we archived this and made a special cache in remembrance of him, since he was the FTF “Down By The River”.

              My first hide is GC23605 Published 1/20/2010 and is still active.

                Our first, hidden in July of 2004, was a challenging multi in the Jones Springs Recreation Area in northern Oconto County, WI, GCK3GQ . The local muggles would not leave it alone, it became a big maintenance chore with vandalizing and outright theft. We finally archived it and pulled out stages 1, 2, and 3. The final remains, C17ANG ,although it is moved further off trail and is hidden better. It’s been ignored by the vandals, probably because it is pretty remote and they’d have to work too hard to get it. It gets found occasionally (39 logs) since being remodeled in Nov. 2007.

                In hindsight, we’ve learned a lot about caches and placements. It was a cool multi, but we’d probably set it up differently if we were to do it again.

                    http://coord.info/GC2ENJQ Was our first hide in a series. We placed several caches on the way out to lead geocachers through the brush and Grundy Canyon to the water fall. We put on a total of 8 miles on zigzagging around looking for spots with nothing more than a backpack full of caches and ammo cans and one little bottle of water. Ever since then you will find us with a lot more water and a lot more snacks. At one point I thought we might not make it out from from lack of energy with no food and an empty little bottle of water. It was fun…

                      Our first hide did not happen until October 2007.

                      We wanted to get some finds (and experience) in and to figure out the whole process of geocaching.

                      GC142XB WSQ B-17 Navigator in the Granite Orchard is still active with over a dozen favorite points.

                      It is a tribute puzzle cache that took quite a bit of research to do and it was honored as a WGA COTM cache for February 2008.

                      For YT and the BB it was a very positive experience that far exceeded our expectations of being a cache owner.

                      Still remember during EAA a few years ago when the B-17 “Aluminum Overcast” flew right overhead of the navigator and dipped a wing. Awesome moment.

                        Our first was GC388YF Wauwatosa Wilderness: Holy Tree!

                        It’s still active. It’s in a secluded area (the “wilderness”) along the Menomonee River not far from the western edge of Milwaukee county.

                        It still has the most favorite votes of all of our caches; I think some of those are because we FINALLY hid a cache after 1-1/2 years of finding them. Now it’s hard to stop hiding them. 🙂
