As you may have all heard by now, the WGA has began another exciting series of geocaches. We have the goal of placing 1 WGA sponsored geocache in each of the WI state parks.
We are looking for those members that would be interested in becoming Trail Bosses of these caches. These volunteers become the caretakers of the cache and contacts with the WDNR State Park workers.
Are you interested in placing a cache for the WGA? So far about half have been spoken for and in the next week or so we expect round 2 of caches to be published.
So far KungFuHippie, Beccaday, Labrat_WR, Spike007, Bartrod, sweetlife, and WalkingAdventure have all placed a cache and they have been published or will be published by the GeoPicnic.
Attached are the list of State Parks and a short copy of the responsibilities of the WGA and the Trail Bosses.
If you are interested in placing one, please post here/ leave a PM to Walkingadventure.
We would like these all placed before October if possible.
Questions? Let me know. Caches will go on a 1st come basis. If you decide you would like to become a Trail Boss, more information will come your way.
Attachment is the responsibility of the WGA an the Trail Bosses. Next post is list of the available State Parks.

08/31/2013 at 9:05 pm #1971914How do we get the official WGA vinyl labels for the cache containers?

Say please? 😆 Walking Adventure has those labels so just send him a PM. And if doesn’t respond you could try public humiliation.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

09/02/2013 at 1:30 pm #1971920Not to throw a wrench in the works, but I thought we couldn’t place caches in Atzatlan, due to the archeological significance of the site. Has anyone contacted the DNR about specific approval for this site? I’ve never had anyone even try to submit a cache there.
09/02/2013 at 6:24 pm #1971921My name was originally on this park but then I took it off as I’d already hidden two, to give more people a shot at hiding them. It had been my intention to do so, hopefully whoever else signs up for it will do this.

Copper Culture State Park is archeologically significant too but I was allowed to place one there as long it remained along a trail not in a sensitive area…someone should contact the DNR park manager at Atzatlan to see if this might not apply there too.

09/03/2013 at 12:57 am #1971923Specifically, this has been addressed. I was waiting it out until someone was interested and realized this could be an exception to the “long walk” to the cache requirement. I could see this being a micro or nano near the SP sign. If no one else wants to grab this, I can check into it. I know nothing about the park outside of the archeological diggings going on right now. We would definitely work with the DNR to place this within their wishes.

09/03/2013 at 2:04 am #1971925I offered to take on any or all of the following parks Merrick, Perrot or Wyalusing. I haven’t heard anything concerning it since I inquired in May, yes I know about needing to be a member to do it and would have reupped to do the caches.
