I’m sure there are plenty of these still out there. What’s an active cache anywhere in the state that requires a decent hike…..anywhere from 2-5 miles….and is just one cache? Like a good sized one.
I think there are some yet in Mirror Lake we haven’t found and I’m sure that Door County Challenge is like that. In this day of “needing” to find a bunch of them along a trail, it might be fun to experience “the way it was.”
We’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic, LOL Thanks.10/25/2013 at 3:39 pm #19728422-5 miles??? You might have to go north for that unless the cache takes you in circles. That distance on public land around here will have you hitting a road or private property before then.
I do have some suggestions, but you might have to solve a puzzle or two first… 🙄 😈 😉 GC1PDVG comes to mind as one option.
10/25/2013 at 5:07 pm #1972843Some of our Room 2 Roam caches (24, Finale, Encore) are nice hikes. I just replaced #7, which is the shortest, at .1 mile. There aren’t many “HI-LO” type caches left out there!
No one has tried “The Expedition” in warm weather. I did it in August last year. You may encounter hunters now.

10/25/2013 at 10:05 pm #1972845The one that Becca suggested id a good one. Long hike and some great views. Plenty of other caches in the same area including Field of Pines, an old one. It’s a large ammo can.

10/26/2013 at 1:20 am #1972847The “Door County Challenge” isn’t much of a hike, more of a climb, up and down two bluffs, but easier than it looks with careful planning.
I’ll also blow my own horn, my “No Name Lake Series” up in the northeast corner of Price County (they sadly rarely gets found) is more of a hike. Seven different caches with 5 of the seven finals being ammo cans. With careful planning, you can get very close to all of them (using good map sources which I provide online). If you like a longer hike, they all have great trails, many are ATV, cross country ski, snowmobile and snowshoe accessible.
I personally like to walk the trails after the first snow although when checking them and pressed for time I have driven to many of them in my small S-10.

10/26/2013 at 3:39 am #1972850You may still have it on your list, but Happy Trails (GC27XZH) is a great hike, hasn’t been found since 2012, and has only 12 hardy geocachers found it in three years (can someone say “lonely cache”?). Good to find now or in the snow.

We enjoyed your cache at Natural Bridge last weekend. We have lass than 2 weeks of work left and then we’re off for 4 months. Adding this one to our list for those 4 months.

Hotdogs, we actually tried for that one and got all messed up on the trails, at which point we said…”Another day!” That is such a beautiful area. We’ve been up there 2-3 times now and never tire of it. Well, we’re pretty tired by the time we *get* up there, but you know what I mean! 🙄
