Yesterday I saw a whole wall of brand new ammo cans (not surplus) at Ace Hardware in Wisconsin Rapids, to your left just inside the door. No rust, no markings… $17.95 each, all 50-cal size. Gift-giving time is coming up…
(I had never seen a brand new ammo can until yesterday.)
We saw the same thing at Farm and Fleet the other day..maybe a couple bucks more, though. We’d never seen brand new ones, either.
Sounds like it’s hunting season.
Oh the woes of the short geocacher!
I know both sandlanders and I have hunting spouses, but I don’t think either of them have seen other than military surplus before. Maybe as the surplus has dwindled, someone is picking up and making new?
While I was online searching out some ammo can deals I did run across a company was now making new ones.
The Smiley Face store is selling plastic ammo cans:
(Holds 6-8 boxes of ammunition, Lockable, Water-resistant O-Ring Seal, 11.625″ x 5.125″ x 7.126)
$6.97
Larger sizes are available. 2 are painted and ready to go sit in the woods.
Following the signals from space.
Farm and Fleet has new ones for $15 or a set of 3 different sizes for $40. Went out to do some cache maintenance today and some animal chewed a hole in the corner of one of our plastic ones 🙁
