Thanksgiving is upon us. That’s 4 days of caching, right? Personally, I would much rather be slogging through a swamp to find a cache than Black Friday shopping but we’ll see what my niece and daughter ends up talking me into. Just curious what your plans are. Anyone caching? We’re going to a place in Minnesota that probably none of you has heard of. We may end up visiting GC2QHNN which Trekkin just brought to my attention.

Typically not a big caching weekend for us. Thursday is our grandson’s sixth birthday so that takes care of one day. We usually some type of holiday season event with our daughter’s family. We’ll take in a Christmas parade either in Watertown or West Bend. Somewhere in between all of that we will probably squeeze in a couple dozen finds somewhere.

Mr. G, the Waukesha Christmas parade is this Sunday. We’ll be there if you’d like to look for us.

Becca, If you can go there during the early or late hours of the day, the petroglyphs will be easier to discern. If you’re going there, you may also want to check out http://coord.info/GC13BZP which is not too far away and a real surprise on the prairie. That and the EC were the main reasons we went out that way, though we found quite a few other really great places to explore, too.

We don’t have any big plans for the weekend. We’ll take it as it comes. With deer season upon us, we’ll either cross the border to cache in “foreign” woods or do other things. I’d be game to try that Milwaukee geotour, but Trekkin’….not so much.

We don’t do many urban caches, but we really enjoyed the Milwaukee Geo-Tour. It takes you to some interesting places.

No caching plans for Thanksgiving. The holiday is about pies and family for us, although we’re not going to turn down any requests by family members if they want to check out the activity. We did take my aunt and uncle out the day after T’day our first year caching–they were in their late eighties at the time–and if our great-nephews want to find a few like they did on their recent trip with us… well, OK.

There are a bunch of P&Gs in the Mauston area that we might take a detour for on our way to the festivities at my sister’s place, but that would depend on if the pies and the mashed potatoes get prepared early enough for us to take a leisurely way over there.

On Thanksgiving Day back in 2008, we ran into Team Vaughn at GC1BY16 . He said that they always went geocaching on Thanksgiving to get the kids out of the house while the meal was being prepared. I thought it was a great idea. He told us about the Bugline trail during our conversation. The next day my daughter Hannah and I visited Sussex and the Bugline for the first time and started a “Black Friday” tradition. We cache together. We have conquered Mr. GT’s “Eight Tiny Reindeer” GC21403 , “Backroads Bingo” GC31X9R, “Geocaching Pickers (American Pickers shop in LeClaire, IA) GC3MYET among our adventures.

This year, we are heading to Clinton, IA to find the “CAGE” GC4HD36 with stops in Dubuque and other places along the way. With her busy schedule, I do not get to talk to her very often. It is nice to sit in the car for a day with her and get an update on how life has been treating her.

We’re hosting on T Day, so I guess Wednesday/Thursday are busy. I used to do a LCG run on Black Friday, under the guise of deer hunting! We’ll see about that! 😉

The Fox Valley Fugitives will be hitting the road Saturday for their annual Let’s Cache Opening Day of Gun Hunting Season. I think this may be year #5. Since hubby stays in the woods and not home until later Monday, I will do my annual Let’s Cache Monday of Opening Weekend outing. It’s off to Madison Wednesday evening. We usually get out and grab a couple Thanksgiving morning just to get out of the MiL’s hair. That will be the end to caching for us as it will be back home Thursday evening and then putting in a hardwood floor and painting a BR over the long weekend. Ugh…I wish could wave my wand to get that done.

I’m running “The Gobbler” with my daughter on t-day morning. Looks like it’s going to be a pretty cold morning. After that it’s lunch at the in-laws. After lunch it will either be butcher time or head to the woods time.

Val and I are heading South, how far depends on when the thermometer on the dash gets above 50 degrees. Hoping that will happen around the Memphis area. But if we have to go farther south we will.

Barry, I like that plan! Wish we could do something like that, but alas, until we are dog-free, it won’t happen. Enjoy your fun!

No caching plans. Seeing my family in Sheboygan on Thursday. I have not cached for a couple months.
