I am planning on some solo camping this summer. I am looking for recommendations on tents. Specifically tents that don’t take 2 or more people to set up. But lately, it seems like just about every tent, not including small backpack tents, require 2 or more people to set up.

I don’t mind spending 10-15 minutes to set up a tent, but I don’t want to get tents that requires assistance from another person to set up.

I want to be able to go on an impromptu trip to go geocaching and hiking and stay at a camground somewhere and set up a tent without assistance.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

We had a coleman dome tent for a while that was doable to set up by myself, or with small children that don’t really give much real help.  The only problem with that one was that when it was really windy the thing would concave and half the tent would be gone.

I have a Eureka Timberline and one person can set it up. Only problem I  could not stand up inside.

We’ve used the Timberline for years and it’s a great tent.  Lay it out, set up the external frame, hook it on and you’re good to go.  Very easy for one person.

A little late to the party, but I have to agree with those that endorsed the Eureka Timberline. I have had mine since 2003 and aside from replacing the poles after they snapped when a helicopter landed on the football field that we were camped along the sidelines, it has been a fantastic tent. I have the Timberline 4 XT. The XT has a vestibule built into the rain fly, which gives you a place to leave your muddy boots, etc. instead of bringing them in the tent with you. The 2 is probably big enough for a single camper, but I usually camp alone and enjoy the extra space in the 4 … but I’m a big guy. No, you can’t stand up inside of it, but that doesn’t really matter to me.

That is my problem. I have great tent and like the room in my tent. You could put 3 queens in it but if I have to go by myself or someone backs out I cannot set it up by alone. Thanks for the info.

I found a tent like this but of course you don’t get any details. Not sure how good Pop ups are? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-Double-layer-Auto-Instant-Camping-Family-Pop-Up-Umbrella-Tent-Green-/251954244531

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Guess I’ll go shopping on Tuesday 🙂
