So I’m replacing my current vehicle with another vehicle next week.

I take it I’ll have to buy another state park sticker for my new vehicle as I assume my current sticker is not transferable to my new vehicle, correct? I’m selling my current vehicle.

Our experience has been to remove the sticker as carefully as you can and bring the pieces to a DNR service center or park office to have them give you a new sticker. There was no cost to us to do this. To make sure this is still the case, you can call the nearest DNR or park office and ask.

The old sticker would not be transferable because it tears apart when you try to remove it from the windshield, even when using a razor blade. Make sure to remove the sticker and save the pieces before the car ends up with someone else.

Thanks. I have not sold the car yet. Still have it. I’ll take a drive to my local DNR office with the sticker still in the window and explain my situation.

Seeing I’m out of state, I would have to pay $35 for a sticker and summer is half over and I wasn’t about to pay it again for only a few more visits.

    Thanks again.

Me too, I had no trouble at all when I bought a new vehicle.  I think it’s important to give them the pieces so that they know you’re telling them the truth.

Same here.  We gave them the pieces of the sticker after razorblading it off.

I keep my vehicles forever so I haven’t had this problem yet. Also senior stickers are only $10 so we have them on all three SUV’s.

    Starting on January 1, 2016:
“Annual admission sticker fees will increase from $25 to $28 for state residents, from $35 to $38 for non-residents and $10 to $13 for resident seniors. Annual trail passes will increase from $20 to $25 for an annual pass and from $4 to $5 for a daily pass.”

(The recently announced property tax savings won’t begin to cover these increases–and we get even less because our place is worth far less than the “average” home in Wisconsin–but for your entertainment dollar, this is still a great bargain.)

I was successful in removing a big chunk of the sticker with the ID number still readable on it along with several small pieces. Just a matter of going to my local DNR office with the pieces. I had to do it right away because I put the car up for sale.

Funny thing is, I was also able to remove my ENTIRE Michigan State Park stick in one piece and it still sticks. So I put it in a small container and will affix it to my current vehicle when I have the chance, so I don’t have to worry about that. I’ll just tape over it with clear tape if it does not re-stick to my new vehicle’s window. At least I won’t have to worry about replacing the Michigan sticker. I just have to do Wisconsin’s.

I’ve found if I use a hair dryer (high heat) to soften the glue the sticker will come off in one piece with a razor blade.  The sticker will still be screwed up but, at least it’s not in a zillion pieces.  A little goo gone and the glue cleans up quickly from the windshield.
