If you could chose one attribute that would be the greatest asset to the WGA and yourself to be a success, what would it be.

During the “Get To Know Us” time in the Candidate Corner section, we will ask that  only the Candidates to answer posted questions.

Timely Communication.    This attribute would be a great asset to the WGA board and members because as Volunteers, time is a precious thing in our busy lives.   I’m sure we all know how important communication is, however being timely with response to another volunteer or member is respectful and honoring the gift of their time.   I would hope to receive the same respect in return.   Timely Communication as an asset may also mean the WGA website stays up-to-date within a reasonable amount of time to provide members with news as soon as possible.    Timely Communication also leads to improved planning, because exchange of thoughts and ideas keep things rolling along without stalling through waiting on each other.    As a potential WGA Board Member I would hold myself accountable to contribute this asset to the duties of the position.

    Creativity
The ability to come up with new ideas make events fun for everyone, if you keep doing the same thing you’ll end up with the same result. Sometimes that’s a good thing and sometimes you’ll need to change it up a bit. Come up with new fundraising ideas.

~note: WordPress and Microsoft Office do not seem to play well together. Pasting from Office seems to cause the gobblegook to post too. Copy/Pasting from Notepad seems to remedy the issue. If there are issues with the extra formatting junk, we will clean it up. No worries.

Amita and Hodag, we hadn’t posted the Candidate Only disclaimer by the time you answered this great question. To stay on topic, I removed your posts.

    Technology

In this day and age, it is important to keep up to date with technology. Everything changes so fast now a days. There are new gadgets and gizmos coming out almost weekly. It is good to know what could be used for geocaching or otherwise. Would it be helpful for someone to know if some of the new fit watches also had a compass in it? Would anyone also like a few tips and tricks on GSAK? It is hard but keeping up to date could help the WGA be able to help other fellow geocachers.

    Listening

in today’s fast pace world, we may hear what people say but do we really listen to what people say. So often we have an idea of what the story is going to be that we fill in the details ourselves without letting those who are telling the story do that for us. We are often reactionary, going off emotions instead of soaking it all in and making decisions based on the facts. Only by really listening to what is being put out there can we make the wisest decisions about how to move forward.

    Diplomacy

Maintaining relationships both inside and outside of the WGA is one of the keys to our future success. Inside the WGA, we need to listen to what the members are saying and let them know that their voice is being heard and represented by the decisions being made by the BOD. There is no WGA without members. Outside of the WGA, we need to work with our supporting partners, like the WDNR or Parks & Recreation Departments, to ensure the future of our hobby with places to hide caches and venues to hold events. I believe I would be able to maintain this delicate balance of communication, especially in sensitive situations, because I do this on a daily basis in my career and my life.

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

    Reliable –

An attribute for the WGA to be successful would be reliability. An organization cannot run smoothly without help from others.  Having dependable people to rely on, and trust to help out in any way, is very important. Like the quote says “You are only as good as your word, and your word is only as good as your actions.”  I am a strong believer in this, and take pride in knowing that I can be counted on.

    Team work

It is hard to pick just one attribute because so many of them are important so I guess I will choose team work.  The reason being, it takes everyone to make a strong organization.  You can get much more done in a lot less time working together.  We will accomplish much more as a team versus as an individual.  Any organization is only as good as its members.

    Passion

Working for the common good of an organizations members requires that you feel passionate for the work you are doing, and the organization you are serving.
