Hi everyone. This past Saturday we held the WGA BOD meeting in Wausau where we started an agressive timeline for things we wish to accomplish for you all in 2016. We listed to your idea here on the forums and will be announcing some exciting things in the near future but we don’t wish to tip our hand too soon.

We do have 2.5 quick things to share.

1. WGA BOD officers for 2016 are as follows:

Presdent: WalkingAdventure
VicePresident: Beccaday
Treasurer: AuntieNae
Secretary: lostcheq

2. Since 2007 the WGA has sponsored a 2 mile section of Highway 10 that runs between Reedsville and Brillion. We were charter members of this program and twice a year we would hold CITO events to clean this section of road. After a decline of participation (the last 2-3 years would bring 20ish members to the Spring CITO and 4- 5 to the Fall CITO) we, the BOD had decided to give up the Adopt-A-Highway and focus ourselves on other events and CITOs that better reflect our By Laws, specifically this section:
Promote the “Cache In Trash Out” and “Leave No Trace” programs to help in the maintenance of parks and trail systems.

Numerous members had mentioned to us that they were unable to bring their children (younger than 11) to this event and the thought of walking along a high speed roadway made them nervous. Couple with the diversity in location of the BOD, it was just not in the best interest of the WGA to continue this great program. Look for use to focus efforts into promotion of CITOs. Remember, the WGA will sponsor  up to 6 CITOs by our members, annually.

2.5 After hearing your requests for presentations, we will work towards having Geo101, GSAK and other types of presentations and training materials added to the site and made accessible for y’all
