So what are your ideal caches to find? Long hikes? PNG’s? Puzzles? Historical sights?

I enjoy meeting up with other cachers for the hunt and attending events. I have a notebook with solved puzzles, ready for the right day. I also like to place caches of all kinds. A cache that has a bug in it is worth drive totally out of the way just for the trackable. If you ask me on a family level, we scout out family friendly caches that take us to new places. History is always a plus! The Oddity caches are also ones we don’t like to miss. We are often found trekking in WSQ’s. Sometimes, a power trail is just what the numbers need. But at the end of the day a cache is a cache and a smile is a smile I like to find them all.

It was a great 5 stage multi that I did in the fall. The leaves were beautiful, and it was the perfect fall day for a nice long walk. The WP’s were all very creative, and it took me to an area I would never have known existed. It was definitely my ideal cache. I also love creative caches and gadget caches too. It’s so cool to see the thought and time that some cachers put in to them. I’ve found myself getting a nice laugh after finding a few, and that just adds to the experience. I have a love hate with challenging puzzles/caches. Once I can make the solve or find, I feel such a great sense of accomplishment, and when I don’t it’s the frustration that pushes me harder to find it.

01/23/2017 at 2:10 pm #2053332I tend to enjoy a variety of caches. For a while I enjoyed a lot of the more difficult puzzles, when the kids were younger park and grabs. Now we are almost out of the park phase with the kids and their lives seem to run our schedule for the most part. My all time favorite cache was Out of Site. Another more recent favorite is Vampire Empire. The well thought out caches always tend to be the best.
01/23/2017 at 5:13 pm #2053336It’s really hard to say what my favorite type of cache is. There are different caches that satisfy different aspects of geocaching for me. I’m not a fan of some of the more obscure puzzles, but I give them a shot every now and then when I feel like stretching my brain. Long multi caches make for a fun adventure where success depends on making consecutive finds. A long hike down a power trail in the crunchy leaves of fall gives you a sense of accomplishment when you haven’t had the finds you were hoping for in the rest of the year. Cemetery caches bring us to some neat places that put us in touch with history. And probably my favorite of all would be earthcaches that bring us to some amazing sites where we see what this earth is capable of. Science has always been a favorite subject of mine, so adding that to our yearly trips out west makes me a happy cacher.

01/23/2017 at 7:47 pm #2053340WSQs are by far my favorite, but I enjoy any cache that takes me somewhere new and interesting. I love the adventure of the hunt, to me it isn’t about the numbers, it is about the journey. It may be a simple pill bottle in a sign, but if there is something to see, or learn it is worth it. I also like the long hike on a trail and bonding with my co-cacher/s. Ok, let’s face it, any cache that needs to be found is my favorite!

01/29/2017 at 2:49 pm #2053445My ideal caches vary with what I am doing and who I am with. For example, when I am traveling to a new area, I might seek out caches that are virtuals or earthcaches so I can learn more about the area. If I am going out with a group, we might be seeking out a power run of PNG’s. If am solo, just looking to get outdoors, I might find solitude in a nice long hike just to clear my head. Puzzles have not been my thing but if we have a long cold snowy winter, I might take time to solve a bunch to find come spring. I think each cache type easily serves a purpose.
