What changes or contributions are you going to make to the Wisconsin Geocaching Association?
***Opinions expressed are mine alone and will change based upon new information. ***
01/25/2017 at 12:51 pm #2053381As I do not have access currently to suggestions, I cant truthfully answer what I plan on changing. Maybe bringing the COTM back into one category making it harder to win the COTM. I use to enjoy driving and searching out the caches in other areas because they won.
01/25/2017 at 1:33 pm #2053385At this time I cannot say that I plan on changing anything. If elected, and there is opportunity to make changes, I believe it will be a joint effort to make those decisions. As for contributions, I will help out with whatever is needed, to get the tasks done. I can bring some new thoughts and ideas to the board, and will do my best to help the WGA fulfill it’s goals.

01/25/2017 at 1:46 pm #2053386I am definitely not in a position to say I would change anything about the WGA. The organization’s main goal is to promote geocaching throughout the state by acting in the best interests of the membership to ensure that geocachers are allowed to play this sport. This may require working with the WDNR to make sure that state lands are accessible to us and communicating with local governments to make sure that we are within their rules and they are not being unreasonabe when it comes to geocaching. If the WGA seems to be straying from the goal of promoting and preserving geocaching in the state of Wisconsin, I would work to bring it back on track. These are the only times where I could see changes being made to the WGA. Growth of the WGA, is more of what I would like to see. Are we changing with the times and the demographics of our membership? Maybe we should look and see if there are old policies that can be modified to better fit this organization after 15 years of growth.
As for contributions that I would like to make, I will work to the best of my ability to make sure that we involve as much of the membership in as many ways as they can. If it means I have to take it upon myself to work with a member from another corner of the state to make sure an event many miles from home satisfies the needs of the cachers that attend that event, then so be it. I would like to say that I will contribute anything that I am asked to, and anything that I feel would benefit the WGA, even if I am not asked.
My posts should in no way be considered as the views or opinions of the WGA or its Board of Directors. All posts made under my name are my personal opinions only.
01/25/2017 at 5:26 pm #2053393What would I change? I would change the work week to 5 days of caching and 2 days or work….J/K. I don’t think there needs to be changes. If as a team decide there needs to be a change we will put our brain power together to come up with a change if there needs to be one. If I happen to win one of the 4 open positions I will be here to help keep the train going down this well made tracks that was made by previous BOD members. I will I look forward to giving some ideas help build on ideas already in place and of course to have fun. I look forward to setting good example for other members and help promote the WGA to help get more members and do my duties to the fullest. Thank you

01/25/2017 at 9:42 pm #2053400I think my first 100 days would be best spent immersing my self in the culture. Picking the brains of other board members, learning the by-laws, learning the personalities of the other members. No t to say I would be a wall flower, but I would not come charging in making it the Kelly Show. I think there is great value in observing first, and learning the way the machine runs.

01/29/2017 at 2:29 pm #2053440As the Treasurer, I have behind the scenes duties and responsibilities that I need to get caught up on. 2016 was a personally challenging one for me and I am currently living out of boxes in my garage due to home renovation work taking place. I need to get the box with WGA stuff found, unpacked and get going now that my office was just finished this past week.
With the change of officers also comes responsibilities on my end with notifications to our bank and change of signature cards for the WGA checking and PayPal accounts. I need to get the new BOD up to speed on all that.
I started the artwork process but there is a whole lot more that I need to get in the works for the 15 year Anniversary merchandise. We are sold out of the hats, nearly sold out of the cachekinz and also need to work on new merchandise based upon suggestions I was given last year.
