What would you say are your three best qualities that would make you a good WGA board member and why?

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Thanks for the question. I am sure we all have great qualities that will make the WGA continually being great. My first quality is I am a cacher.  I have found caches I have hid caches and I also have hosted events. My second quality is I am a team player. I work well in groups and having been employed at my current job for almost 21 years I work in a team environment day in and day out. I always go the extra mile to get things accomplished. My third quality is I am committed. If I say I will be there I will be there. I will be there when the board needs me there do what the board needs done. When I commit to do something I give it my all. At my current job I go over and beyond to do things for the company. I come in early I stay late I take on extra responsibilities that need to be done. All of our qualities as a BOD will make this one awesome team. W have big shoes to fill. Thank you

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

1 am a Survivor!  Bring it on!  Until you have lived through the worst, you never realize how strong you are.  I am finding my voice again!

I am a Planner!  I like to see things set and in place before walking into an event.  I know what goes into the WGA events and like it when everything is laid out and expectations are known.

I work well with others!  I like to find my team members strengths and work from those so we can be our best.  It also can serve to help others grow.

    3 of my best qualities…

Honesty, I am always honest with people and expect them to be honest with me.

Confidence, being confident in what you do becomes contagious.  When people are confident in what they do they portray a positive attitude.

Decisive, making decisions in a timely matter helps give more time to accomplish a task even if modifications need to be made.

Three of my best qualities are:

Dedicated – When I am committed to something, I am all in.  I do whatever it takes to get the jobs or tasks done, and I do it to the best of my ability.

Trustworthy – I believe in honesty, reliability and integrity.  At work I deal with confidential information, and have access to the company’s money, in which I am partially responsible for spending and saving it. I believe in keeping my word, and doing what is ethical and right.

Optimistic – I always try and look on the bright side of things.  Things may not always go well, but tomorrow is another day.

After some long and hard reflection on who I am and what I have to offer to the WGA, I have finally made a list of my three best qualities as they would be most beneficial to the BOD.

I listen as much as I speak.  I know there are people, particularly my wife, who would say that I talk a lot, and she would probably say I don’t listen to her at all.  I have to disagree with the last part of that statement. I do talk a lot, but when it comes to discussions with others, I do listen to what they have to say. It may not change my opinion, but that doesn’t mean what they have to say has no merit in the conversation. Listening, especially to someone who has more experience than I do, helps me learn and grow to be a better part of the team.

I like being social.  I don’t always jump into a crowd and introduce myself, but given an opportunity to socialize with others, I will.  Being a member of the BOD would give me a chance to meet other cachers in a way that I couldn’t before.  I would like the ability to introduce myself as a BOD member who is interested in what they would like to see from the WGA. Socializing is so much easier when you have a good opening line like that.

Finaly, I am a great troubleshooter.  Day in and day out, I have to quickly diagnose problems and come up with the best possible solution.  Spend too much time trying to figure what went wrong is detrimental to keeping everything running smoothly. Not figuring out the root cause of a problem can sometimes make it come back worse.  A quick, efficient solution is always best when it comes to an obstacle, regardless if it is an inoperative piece of machinery, or a snafu at a geocaching event.

My posts should in no way be considered as the views or opinions of the WGA or its Board of Directors. All posts made under my name are my personal opinions only.
